The variablosity of tipsitude
Tonight, with dinner, I had a glass of Plungerhead Zin. Dinner was simple: two kaiser roll sandwiches and inslata caprese with the absolute very last of the local tomatoes.

Minutes later I poured a glass of a fair to middling local port wine.

I am now tipsy.

There are also night where I can drink all night, at least at the rate I drank tonight's wines, and never even feel it.

Why the differences?

1. I'm guessing that your dinner

was lacking in something that would have more readily absorbed the alcohol?

How many fingers am I holding up?

3. You're perfectly
sober. The sensations are merely a fig newton of your imagination.

4. That's another of alcohol's many problems
It's not an entirely reliable and predictable buzz.

Nothing was more frustrating than being trapped at a dull party when that glow that should have eased an uncomfortable social situation never happened.

Of course, as I hit my mid 20s and beyond, all I got out of alcohol was a migraine anyway. At least the migraine gave me an excuse to leave early.
