Back to cooking land, I think...
Done with chemo, CT scan shows me cancer free, diabetes (acquired under treatment) is under control.... still some residual "souveniers" but probably as good as it's going to get (except for extreme tiredness - probably anemia).

In the meantime, enjoy some fast-food "Tuna Pie"...

1. LOL! Omg.
But isn't that great news, Tab. All but the tiredness. My immune system crashed a few years ago and the hardest part was being tired all the time. Being tired is a skill that I didn't have.

Have you been tested for anemia?

3. Good, let's hope this is it.
It takes about 2 years to get past steroids when you finally go off them, so you've got a way to go. You'll notice slower healing, among other things. Just let the docs know if you need surgery--dental or otherwise--because they'll affect the way anesthesia works.

You might also find out that the diabetes goes away when the steroids do, but it will be back eventually as Type II, not drug induced.

However, welcome back to the DU kitchen. You've been missed.

7. Latesst on the job?

Working for Verizon, developing for FIOS.

My background is in multimedia (audio, video, animation) and this is the stuff that controls how you interact with your TV, so it's right down my alley. Just in time too - unemployment ran out a week previously.

Might things be turning a corner? We can only hope.

8. Good to see you Tab - I lost an earlier post to you.
It was in reference to cooking a turkey quickly. I watched Martha a little while ago and this idea looked great to me.

http://www.marthastewart.com/how-to/how-to-spatchcock-a-turkey

Martha Stewart deboned front and back - a turkey and cooked it in 90 minutes.

I'd try it.

Glad you're back Tab!

10. Hey Tab - Good on ya!
You are doing great - keep up a good fight! I try to. I had a major surgery a few months ago and I thought it would be so much better by now. Ack - if they told ya how bad it might be, we'd never do it, eh? Modern medicine is still quite new, comparatively speaking.

My old 40-year reunion pals are a-calling by phone, mail, & CD. I love it!

That reunion happened last Summer and I didn't go. Good pals stay in touch no matter how many years ago. Such an uplift to me! I might have had a whole different course of action/lifestyle if the internet was around in the 1960's & 1970's.

I never heard of a tuna pie before, but it sounds just like me!!!!

Best wishes to ya ;-)
