Culinary Valentine Gift
Edited on Sat Feb-14-09 09:15 AM by hippywife
I was in the bathroom putting in a load of laundry and Bill went out to let the chickens out of the garden to range. He also made a stop at his truck I didn't know about.

I came out to find a metal pizza peel with a wooden handle and a new hand-crank can opener (I don't want an electric one and my old hand crank wasn't working very well) with a large crank handle so "we can still use it in our arthritic old age. :7

He went to a restaurant supply yesterday on his lunch hour. This man is the most wonderful I've ever met and he always surprises me. He argues with me when I say he's the most wonderful hubband in the world but there is no argument as far as I'm concerned.

Love you very much, Gueff. :loveya: :loveya: :loveya: :* :* :*

2. Thanx, japple.
From day one, he's always been so attentive to what I say. So much so that I have to watch what I wish aloud for, else it'll turn up. I wish I new more detail about his hobbies (woodworking and electronic stuff) to be able to surprise him sometimes but he's content with buying his own parts and pieces of stuff.

I hope you have a wonderful day, sweetie. :hi:

3. guess you'll have to master the wrist/peel/shimmy/shake after all
it's the sign of a good relationship when he's actually watched and listened to you enough to recognize your needs and wants in a present

it's easy to get candy and flowers or sparkly stuff, it's another level of love altogether to get a gift that will be appreciated for years to come

:pals:

:loveya:

you are so good to each other and lucky to have each other

enjoy

And you are right about that. It's one of the many things I cherish about him. I am incredibly lucky to have found him. I waited a long time for the right one and at the age of 37 finally found "The One."

Funny story about how I knew I was totally at ease with him. I knew before he got off that plane 12 years ago today that I would end up his wife. I just knew. We made 3 or 4 trips back and forth in the seven months between meeting on line and getting married. At one point we were standing in the airport here in Tulsa for my trip back to Columbus and something was ticklish in my nose like a piece of fuzz or something and rubbing it wasn't helping. So I looked up at him, tilted my head back and said, "Is there something in my nose?" I had always been a very self conscious person, especially around men. Being overweight since age 12 and picked on through out all of my school days, until my senior year, having a dad that didn't major in building self-esteem and compassion in his children, and then 12 shitty years in a bad on-again, off-again relationship, I would never before have dreamed of doing that or anything like it around a man.

Here's our wedding pic:

And recent pics:

He's my partner in everything and the love of my life. We share so many of the same concerns and interests and are usually only apart when we are working. There was a time in my life that I though he didn't exist. He's made so many long held dreams come true it still amazes me. I am one extremely lucky woman.

Sorry...didn't mean to get so carried away. LOL :hi: But I really hope other will share pics of themselves and their loves today, too.

I've avoided cameras since I got sick. I may be able to track one of Bill down though. We're usually holding the cameras, not often the subjects. :) The only thing I could find of me was at least 10 years old.

32. Well, I haven't quite mastered it.
And I'm such a goof that I was all wrapped up in using that for the first time, I forget to put it closer to the edge so it would have a shorter distance to slide so still had to push it off a little with a wooden spatula and I forgot to dust it with flour and slash it.

Anytime I try a new routine or do something different or out of order, I miss something. Every single time. :eyes:

19. Well...we don't do Valentines Day, however
Edited on Sat Feb-14-09 01:10 PM by Lucinda
there was an ecard in my inbox from his this morning. He was reminded it was VD when he went to the store this morning to get cream for our coffee before I got up. He saw some guy with a vase of flowers and about a dozen ballons, which he says jogged his memory. He also sent a card to his ex and the kids. Which made me happy. :)

This is a guy who spent 9 days sleeping in a trauma waiting room while I was kept unconscious so they could keep going back in for multiple surgeries. He once spent 2 hours with a bottle of cream rinse trying to get my, at the time, waist length hair unmatted after another hospital stay, so I wouldn't have to cut it all off.

He's also got a wicked sense of humor and is a smartass.
Every day is valentines day for me. :)
