ZOMG! I'm glad I didn't make pie!
Anglo-saxon soul food was my theme this year, so I just made (and consumed):

Roast beef and mushrooms with au jus, a whole roast chicken (with thyme, garlic and parsley), roasted turnips, carrots and shallots in rosemary and olive oil, mashed potatoes, roasted onion chicken gravy, sauteed cabbage and onions simmered in malt vinegar, and little yorkshire puddings. Plus, I made an loaf of English cottage bread this morning. (note: I didn't eat ALL of it. Nor could my family. Everyone is taking leftovers home).

I feel like Mr. Creosote right now!

That's quite an ambitious menu you served! I'm very impressed, as I'm sure your guests were as well! It all sounds scrumptious-
