Need help finding a gas range
I didn't plan to do this for another year, but my range has just about bitten the dust. One burner is gone and now the oven isn't baking evenly.

So here's my problem. I need a slide-in 30inch gas range, BUT, I have my heart set on a double oven, like the Kenmore Elite. So far, it looks like they only come in free-standing and I was hoping by next year, they's start manufacturing the slide-in. But, time is running out on me.

I'm flexible on the brand, as long as the burners are gas, and it has two ovens (duel fuel is ok).

Has anyone seen this type of range, in a slide-in and if so, do you know who manufactures it? http://www.thegreatindoors.com/p-509904-kenmore-elite-30-in-double-oven-freestanding-gas-range.aspx?psid=FROOGLE&sid=TDx20070926x00003a

2. The difference

The slide in doesn't have that control panel sticking up in the back, like the free-standing, which is made to back up to a wall. My range slides into an island, with a bar behind and around it, so it needs to accommodate that.

Here's what my current range looks like and it's the style I need, for my island arrangement.

3. ah gotcha - didn't even think of an island
I used to have a cheapo gas range and the backsplash was a PITA to clean so I reemoved it. But it was just for looks and didn't even have a clock.

5. which link?
The first one is a free-standing, which I can't use and the second link is the slide in, but with a single oven, which I don't want.

I'm looking for a combo of the two.......slide-in with double oven. Is that what Jenn-aire has? I think I've googled everyone, but I'll try that one again. You never know what they're coming out with.

7. You might be better off just sighing and getting the single oven
I've been looking at ranges lately, and I've noticed the dual oven ranges have two ovens that are really too small.

Is there a place in your kitchen where you could mount a wall oven for your second oven? That way you'd have a gas oven in the range and an electric wall oven, something that sounds like the best of all possible solutions to me.

8. Good point about oven size
That's what we did when we remodeled a couple of years ago. We got a Jenn-Air dual fuel slide in range (with downdraft) and replaced the hood and fan that used to be above the stove with a microwave-convection oven combination with fan. I use the above-stove convention oven quite a bit for small dishes as I'm normally just cooking for 2 of us. Only downside is if you are short or have upper body strength/mobility issues it's less convenient to get hot dishes in and out of the oven. (I'm not tall enough to see the food unless I pull the baking dish out of the oven to look at it.)

Overall I've been happy with the Jenn-Air.

9. JennAire has the 30 inch freestanding range w/control panel at the back
I would love if they would do a slide in, just because I like the look, but I don't have the island issue you have so it isn't as much of an issue for me. I am looking at the Jenn Aire dual fuel 30 inch range. It has 5 burners with a supercharged one for wok cooking and a slow simmer one for delicate stuff.

A small upper oven for small stuff, which is the everyday oven I will use most and a larger oven below with convection for big stuff. I had two wall ovens when we bought this house but one died on us, and I really miss that second oven. I would replace with cooktop and wall ovens but the stove will give me more counter space and storage.

6. Old-fashioned idea
Did you call a repair person? Maybe you could spend a couple hundred on a repair now, and give Kenmore some time to come up with the range you're looking for.
