skinless vegan haggis
I kid you not.

I was reading about a vegan deli here in my town, and that is one of the specialties they offer. Skinless vegan haggis.

Wouldn't that just be oatmeal?

The deli also has "pumpable" nacho "cheese" sauce made from cashews. Who thinks this stuff up?

3. They must have a very determined Scot in the kitchen
because most people turn greenish and exit quickly if someone even mentions haggis to them.

I would assume it's a pretty good combination of chopped seitan, braised and seasoned TVP, and steel cut oats, baked in a pan. Sauced correctly, it would be pretty good stuff, much better than its namesake of offal mixed with oats and cooked inside a sheep's stomach.

5. Stopped by the local Sainsburys on the way home from work tonight,

and noticed vegetarian haggis. I just glanced at it, but it looked like it was loose in a bag, not in a ball like normal haggis. It was also prominently displayed next to the "real stuff" ... if I was a vegetarian, not sure I'd like that idea. Was in a hurry to get home or would have read the ingredients listing. I might just pick up a bag of it next time I'm in. I'll report here if I survive the experience.
