Costco!
Had my Costco fix today. New York steaks (I cut them in half to freeze. A whole one is too much.) Fresh mozarella. Someone said they saw buffalo mozarella. This is cow's milk. The cheapest butter and canola oil you can buy.

Plus, wild sockeye salmon. I know sockeye isn't the premier salmon, but this stuff is dark, dark red. $7.99/pound. Made their farmed salmon look anemic. Now, I have to decide if I want to fire up the smokey joe weber, broil it, or sautee it. The rest goes into the freezer.

What are your favorite things at Costco?

2. Mmmm
I'll remember to look for the next time. I almost never go into the veggies section because there's just me. I can't eat ten pounds of bell peppers. But I can sure eat me some green beans.

3. You can also blanch them and freeze them
But peppers get weird when you freeze them. You have to hide them in tomato sauce.

4. Yup
I've done that with my own beans. They make a great mushroom soup casserole for Thanksgiving.

5. I'm afraid to go there sometimes- Our refridgerator isn't big enough!
They have some awesome garlic/portabello veggie burgers there;
we always have to get 5 pounds of those.
And of course: MEAT! Huge thick steaks at bargain prices! YUM!
(I do NOT cut them in half, lol!)

My all-time CostCo fave was Christmas 4 years ago; sweeties Dad
got us a 15-pound wedge of parmesan that lasted almost
2 years in the fridge. The longer it aged, the stronger it got,
so we used less and less.

I joke that if it had lasted a few more months, it would
have lasted FOREVER, cuz it would have been strong enough
that we could have just WAVED it at food then put it back
in the fridge.

9. I particularly like their high fat content items
For example, a recent excursion netted a tub of sour cream, milk, a half gallon of whipping cream (for making ice cream - 3.99! and it's not ultra pasteurized, either), some of that fresh mozzarella plus a humongous bag of shredded mozzarella and some Tillamook sharp cheddar. A heart attack in a shopping cart! But, at least it's all natural :)

Oh, and the coup de grace: the bite-sized brownies that look like mini cupcakes (in the bakery section). If only they had nuts in them, they'd be perfect.

14. Haven't seen those brownies.
I've seen something similar at Albertson's, and they were good.

12. check for cheap(er) compact fluorescent bulbs too
sometimes the state give great instant rebates and if we all changed out three 60 watt incandescent bulbs it would be the equivalent of taking 3.5 million cars off the roads

an easy way to help the earth and the new CFBs have a nice light now too

11. "Someone said they saw buffalo mozarella."
That would be me. :)

We used the first pound of it just last night to make grilled pizzas. Prior to this stuff appearing in their cheese case, they had an herbed mozarella and a three-bag-pack of tiny balls. Both were US-made from cows milk. The tiny balls were very convenient to use for pizza making. The imported Bufala was sooooo much better. Very rich and creamy, even given its relative age (made, packaged, shipped to the US, distributed, etc.).

13. It was you
They had the three pack of American cow's milk mozarella. I looked really hard for the Bufala. Maybe next time.
