9. take ibuprofen if you haven't already....
Edited on Sat Mar-18-06 09:33 PM by mike_c
1000 mg twice a day-- that's usually 5 pills twice a day (most OTC brands are 200 mg each). Unless you're allergic to aspirin or ibuprofen, of course. It really helps with the inflammation at the "pinch" site.

Hope you feel better soon!

10. Time, sadly, is the only real cure. Hope it goes quickly.
Do you have a deadline for a writing piece in the midst of all this? One handed typing under pressure will just put more stress on the good hand.

Take it all slow and easy ..... and allow yourself to be cared for.

12. No deadlines
Lots of stuff I should be doing. Obviously, I'm doing better today. :) Still, I'm taking it easy.

The doctor was nice enough to give me vicodin , but I'm being verrrrry stingy with those. Don't want to get dependent.

14. Stuff like Vicodin scares the shit out of me ......
I satill have 17 of the 20 I was given a few months back for my broken/abscessed tooth. I was offered a second prescription by the oral surgeon after the tooth got yanked, but declined that. I hate taking strong drugs. My dearest friend got hooked badly on scrip meds because of his back. The long and short of that was a month long hospital stay to kick the monkey off his back.

I know a few vicodin won't give that result, but still .... I like drawing my sand lines in the safe zone! :)

15. I know what you mean
Edited on Tue Mar-21-06 10:27 AM by wryter2000
I'm very leery of pain meds myself. However, in 2001, a doctor gave me 10 vicodins for gout (man, does that hurt!). I still had half a pill left last week, so I figure I know how to handle the stuff. I've taken no more than two a day, when the largest possible does is about 12.

At the very least, I figure you're not getting cured if you're just dulling the pain. I'd rather have some pain to keep me from turning the wrong way than be doped up on something.

I feel for ya!! Thats a terrible kind of pain. You can't sit right or lie down right or do just about anything without it tweaking.

Just think, though...You're typing better with one hand than lots of people do with both hands full functional!! (including me, apparently)

Hope you feel better soon. :)
