Any suggestions for cooking a fresh grouper fillet?
I bought a pound and a half today but have no idea how to cook or season it. The butcher recommended baking it. I have a grill but am not sure I have enough propane to grill it.

Sprouts Seafood
We carry strictly fresh fish!
Fresh---never frozen….delivered six days a week…high quality!
FRESH FISH – PAN SEARED OR SAUTEED
•Season fresh fish to taste and place aside. Melt butter, olive oil or a mix of the two in a
non-stick skillet and add chopped or crushed garlic if you desire. Season to your liking
and place fresh fish in the skillet and sauté over medium high heat for 5 to 15 minutes,
depending on thickness, until flaky and cooked through. Squeeze lemon on afterward if
desired. Great with rice, veggies or a tossed salad for a fast and healthy meal. This would
also make a delicious fish sandwich!
•Coat fresh fish with seasoned flour, breadcrumbs or Golden Dipt pre-seasoned coating
mix and pan fry in a small amount of oil or butter over a medium high heat for between
5 and 15 minutes, turning once. Try serving this with homemade french fries, coleslaw or
pasta salad.
•Season fish to taste and sear over high heat in melted butter or small amount of olive oil
for 3-6 minutes per side, depending on the thickness. Serve with a baked potato or
scalloped potatoes, and stir-fried veggies.
FRESH FISH – BAKING METHODS
•Rub your favorite fresh fish liberally with olive or canola oil and then season to taste.
We prefer granulated garlic or garlic powder, salt, pepper and a “dash of dill”. Bake at 375º
for around 15-25 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fillets. Squeeze lemon on
immediately afterward if desired. Serve with seasoned rice or pasta and a tossed salad.
•Season and then place fresh fish in your favorite liquid marinade, cover and refrigerate
for at least one hour and up to 24 hours. Italian dressing, honey mustard & honey
teriyaki are a few favorite choices. Place on foil in a baking pan (the foil will make your
clean up a lot easier). Bake at 375º for 15-20 minutes, also depending on the thickness of
the fillet. Great with sautéed veggies, Basmati rice or a Caesar salad.
FRESH FISH – BROILING OR GRILLING
•Either rub fish or marinate (see above) and cook for 3-6 minutes per inch, per side, on a
well-oiled grill or on foil in the broiler. Great with everything!

2. Great advice! Thanks
Of course, great plans never materialize. The kid came home this afternoon with major chest congestion and a fever. He went straight to bed. He is the biggest grouper lover in the family. I guess I'll be cooking the grouper tomorrow.

4. Thanks!! I have some Robitussin cough and cold pills with
Guaifenesin but they aren't extended tabs, you have to take them every 4 hours. I'll have to get some Mucinex next time I go out.
