It has been a few months since buying my iPad. I've only
had one issue, the Kaleidoscope app was causing a lock up. Sucks, but it wasn't essential.

I've been reading on it most of the time. It's a fine e-reader. I wouldn't mind a Kindle, but the iPad does what I need. I like the Kindle app and store, but the iBook app is very good too.

Zumocast is very good.

A microfiber cloth is essential. I wash it once a month or more because it gets greasy.

The Gorilla Pod is perfect for propping up the iPad. The flexible legs gives you many options. The Apple case is very nice, but begins to look funky in short time, especially if you use it for a cook book while making bread. :)

1. Back is healing

After fhe Android test I gave in. First day we actually went anywhere, thank pain killles.

Talking to the doc on Friday, she definitely advised to use it and not carry anyfhing else for another two weeks.

Put in Good Reader and Aji Annotate, like good reader better for access to files but aji for actual notations. Will keep good on it and remove aji.

As to books... Nook has been my fav for years.

2. I like the Nook reader too. I took it off just because
I didn't need three readers. I will put it back on if B&N has a selection I can't find at other sources.

What happened to your back?

What medicine are they prescribing?

3. Old EMS injury
I re-injured it playing a minis game. It flares back every so-often, patient lived.

I said no to the happy juice. So I took an aleve today. Mostly Tylenol and bed rest. Will take longer sans percocet but I will remain awake.

It was so bad that it left the area weakened

Been bad and not doing prescribed exercises.

But as I told doc I can bear a two in pain, and today it was almost not there all day.

<--------hi pain threshold.

But right now I cannot carry a bag, no, not even the lappie, or this in a bag.

6. I can't carry anything on my shoulders. My mail satchel ruined three
Discs in my neck. I'm now 100% disabled. I earned it.

7. BTW, do the exercises. If one area is weakened it will
put strain on the muscles that counters it. There has to be balance. Lower back pain can be tied to weak stomach muscles.

10. Walking IN water made me mobile again
Yes, while this is a Mac forum -- back pain is my unfortunate specialty. Could NOT walk more than a few steps a year ago due to a cluster f%$^^ of severe scoliosis, spondleothesis (sp?), disc disease, stenosis, osteoarthritis , all clustered at base of spine. Sciatica AND numbness in both legs.

Spent $ and joined a health club with a therapy pool. Spent more money and got a helper to get me there and in and out. Was off pain meds and relaxants except for Naproxen (Alleve) after a few months. Kicked the walker after 3 months and the cane after 6.

It was either try that or life threatening surgery - on the advice of the top neuro ortho doc at a medical college.

Also ditched my heavy purse, but didn't get an IPad -- yet. Now do my walking routine on land or in the house.

I had the advantage of being retired. Don't know how I would have done it with a full work schedule. Good luck and do the damn exercises.

8. You didn't need 3? I got 5.
iBooks
Kindle
Nook
Stanza
Marvel Comics.

I could stand to lose Stanza since it only has Alice In Wonderland in it.

9. My rec. Don't buy Apple's case. It's cheap.
I spent the extra $ on a Incase leatherette folder. Apple Store has them.

Since May3rd, it's been holding up very well. Goes to work with me every day.

Best thing... it looks like a basic day planner when closed. Nobody knows it's an iPad because there's no giant "APPLE!!! STEAL ME!" logo on the back.

13. I have the Apple case. It works well. I rarely take it out
of the house, and never leave it unattended when out.
