Seven days without meat and I am not weak!
I feel pretty good. I drink a detoxifying tea about once a day. The only meat I've been tempted by is bacon, which I prepare for my husband and oldest son. But I survived that yesterday and today already.

Here comes week 2!

2. You've got the right attitude!

An online friend swears by this recipe for tofu bacon:

If you try it, report back, ok?

3. Good for you!!
I know the bacon thing - it is very tempting for me, too. Have you tried Morningstar Farms fake bacon to make for yourself? I admit it isn't quite as good as the real thing, but it has much less fat and helps soothe the temptation.

Sounds like you're doing *awesome* and are very committed with lots of self-control ;) Hang in there, you know you're making a great choice for your health and the environment.

5. Yeah, I have some Light Life "Smart Bacon" - meatless,
made of soy, wheat, and sesame. They're okay, and helped a little the other day.

Later today, I'm having garlic portabella patties by Veggie Patch for the first time. I hope I like them.

I wrote my thread title wrong. I should have have said "Seven days without meat doesn't make one weak!" Duh. Sometimes I think I'm worse tham W when it comes to language.

6. Footnote: I just ate that
Veggie patch garlic portabella patty and it was delicious! I even put a strip of the faux bacon on it, but it wasn't necessary. Very flavorful and a very close texture to ground beef.

7. Congratulations.
I'm sure the first week is hard. Too much longer, and you won't even miss it.

8. Right now the hardest part is planning meals for the meateaters,

and making a variation of it that I can handle.

Thanks for the great encouragement, everyone!
