Hans Bethe, "father of nuclear astrophysics", 1906-2005
Hans Bethe's death on Sunday certainly merits mentioning in the Science forum here. Few have had the kind of impact he had on science in general, and physics and astrophysics in particular. His politics regarding nuclear disarmament were also something people on this site should appreciate.

1. What an inspiring life
It's good to hear he had a long one--too many of those guys died of radiation-induced cancer.
