I had read about this upcoming rally on
http://www.1payer.net/ and DU. Unfortunately, I didn't find out about until two days prior and I live and work in Boston. I wasn't going to be able to attend, though I desperately wanted to.
Then on Thursday, I checked a bunch of (mostly liberal) news sources: Salon, Slate and WashingtonPost.com. There was NO NEWS WHATSOEVER about this rally. Not even in WaPo's Metro section. Didn't it deserve even a cursory mention.
Did anybody from here attend? How did it go? Did it feel like 10,000 people?
While I would love to see the U.S. adopt a single payer system, I know that's a pipe dream right now. But I REALLY want to make sure the Public Option doesn't get compromised away.
Does anybody have any recommendations about groups to get involved in? Particularly groups that might organize local demonstrations?
Thanks.
