1. The president did make a reference toward single payer.
One person who spoke mentioned how most other countries can still
spend about have as much as we do on health care.

The president said that nearly all those countries use a single payer system, in other words, medicare for all residents.

He also said that implementing single payer here would be hugely disruptive to the existing health insurance industry.

Personally, I think his preference would be for single payer if we were starting from the ground up.

4. He has said (during campaign and after) that if he was starting with nothing, single payer might
make sense. But, he's dealing with a different situation.

2. The minute I saw that Gibson would be there I chose not to watch. I
read DU to get a feel of how things went. Diane is a disappointment, thought she was better than that. ABC...never watch.

3. I think Fail. I think that when Obama says that I can have the same plan as he has then he is
telling the US that his plan is elitist and that it will be what you can afford. And the people with pre-existing conditions will get a lesser plan of coverage and so will those who are poor and cannopt get the plan Obama has. I think that the monies paid for the lesser plans will help to give the elitists better prices for their plans. I think that the elitists will go to the medical providers more than the poor and run up the cost of health care for the poor.

I think there was not enough average people in the town hall meeting and I wonder if that was the fault of the ABC network or if Obama wanted it that way. I think the average person was not represented. I wonder why it was not emphasized more that the state of the economy was also why there was a need for health care reform and if none is implemented soon then the Federal Employee's Insurance Act will be more of a burden on the taxpayers and more subsidies will be needed that will raise costs so that even the elitists will be complaining about their health care costs.

I think the town hall meeting showed that the reason that health care reform is needed is greed by the big corporations that cannot keep shelling out money to insure their employees and want the taxpayer to bail them out. I think the small businesses have already stopped insuring their people because of the high cost involved. I think that the average workers that cannot pay for or get insurance are the ones that will suffer even after getting insurance.

I think the doctors that had insurance through Blue Cross - Blue Shield were part of the problem and cared more about their profit line more than they cared for their patients. I think that there should be one plan - a good plan - for all no matter if they are the rich politician or the son or daughter of the poorly educated ditch digger and the treatment should be the same for all.

I think that the Democrats had a vission in 1993 when Hillary Clinton put out a good and honest effort to get a health care discussion going and the Repugnant Republicans listened to the lobbyists - like Max Baucus is doing now - to derail the discussion and that is what has led us to the situation we see now.

I think Obama should be more forceful in getting more done and should endeavor to get single payer passed and give the insurance crooks an eye opener of what the people want - for going in initially and asking for the compromise shows how weak the political process is and how the lobbyists are the powerful criminals that will try to even pare down that compromise. IO think that even if single payer is defeated - it is the right thing to try for anyway. I think that more expose of the criminals of the insurance companies should be exposed as they deny coverage for the love of the dollar for the rich CEOs that help no one as far as health care goes. I think that more should be exposed about the heavy salaries and bonuses of the ceos and doctors that help to drive up health care.

I think it should be asked why an insurance company should profit from the misfortune of a child that is born and who immediately needs a medical procedure to save its young life. Or a child unfortunately is stricken with leukemia. Or any person that is struke with any cancer or debilitating disease. I think that more should be shown about the way that insurance companies want to use genetic screening to deny healthy people insurance because they may develop a disease later in life.

Since you asked. There is more that I could add.

I think that

HUH? He's said there would be no pre-existing conditions under health reform.
