Ther has been an ongoing discussion on who is better on "gay" issues
Obama, Edwards, Clinton. My opinion is that there is very little difference in actual policy, but politically, one candidate has already traded my vote for the Evangelical vote. Who wii be the next to stab us in the back? Or wiil the other two lay low until the convention to turn their backs on us?

10. More revisionist history

First off, it was Bill Clinton who enacted Don't Ask, Don't Tell. Not Senator Clinton.

And how old are you? Do you know what was in place before DADT? Educate yourself. And while DADT has, in retrospect, not been successful, it was a hell of an improvement over previous policy.

And do you really think anything else could have passed with that dickhead, Gingrich, in charge?

And no, I'm not voting for Clinton. If I vote in my primary (which is irrelevant) I'm not sure who I'm going to vote for. Most likely Edwards since Kucinich won't make it on my ballot.

So before you go throwing stones, educate yourself. I'm sick of the Clintons being pilloried for DADT when it was the best thing they could actually get through that fuckwad of a congress. And it sure as hell beat the witchhunts that used to happen under the old policy.

This election, unlike in the last two, I will not use as a litmus test whether or not a candidate supports gay marriage and unabashedly screams for our rights.

I understand that some people will continue to do this. I was there myself and know the feeling deeply. But I am looking for something more now.

I'm voting for Edwards because I want to end the war, have a president that's pro-working class, as well as pro-gay and anti-theocratic. That's not voting narrowly.

Voting narrowly would be writing in Harvey Milk.

Your reasons to support Edwards are fine. However, he does not support gay marriage. To me, being pro-gay is to support gay marriage. None of the candidates, save Kucinich and Gravel, are pro-gay.

I do not believe this man is a homophobe. Would he support gay marriage? Maybe, as might most of the Democratic candidates. The Republicans sure as hell won't! Obama does not appear to want to cater to any special cause, or any racial, ethnic, or sexual minority, although I'm sure I could find some special interest he likes if I looked. I find this a good sign. He is not taking us for granted and neither should we take him for granted. But he and the Democrats will listen to us, which the Republicans sure as hell won't. A banty rooster like Barney Frank is nice to have on our side! Yes, Obama appears now as an empty vessel into which we can all pour our hopes. Times are changing for sexual minorities and things are moving in our favor. Talk to young people. Most don't give a rat's ass about someone's sexual orientation.

Besides, as a disabled gay man who uses a wheelchair, I would just like to visit a gay bar or other venue I can get into by myself. Of the dozen and a half such establishments in the Kansas City area, only one I have found, has an both an accessible entrance and restrooms. I would love to visit a gay restaurant or bar and not have to pee in a bottle in a dark corner because the restroom doors are too narrow. And this discrimination appears to be legal. Pardon me for carrying on like this. My concerns as a gay man are liberty, equality, and accessibility! I just posted a similar note on the Missouri forum.

Things are going to get better for all sexual minorities as time passes. It will probably happen faster under the Democrats. I think Obama is the best of the Democratic lot. Richardson and Biden have a corner on experience, but lack the skills to win the office, even if they have the skills to carry it out. Hillary reminds me a tad too much of Nixon. Edwards is a good man. I just want the bickering and name calling to stop, and get down to the business of governing.
