Kraft, Ford defend against anti-gay proposals by shareholders
The top management of two major U.S. corporations, Ford Motor Co. and Kraft Foods, are defending from shareholder attack policies that protect and promote gays.

A shareholder proposal at Ford would amend the company's equal employment policy to exclude sexual orientation. The shareholder proposal at Kraft, which was defeated April 25, would have disassociated the company from the upcoming Gay Games VII Sports & Cultural Festival in Chicago.

In materials sent to shareholders, both companies recommended voting against the proposals.

At their annual meeting April 25, Kraft shareholders essentially ignored the proposal to disassociate the company from the Gay Games. The proposal was supported by less than 1 percent of votes cast by shareholders and was rejected.
