Yountville passes measure opposing ban on same-sex marriage

Three weeks after the Napa City Council rejected a gay marriage resolution, the Yountville Town Council Tuesday endorsed a measure opposing “discrimination of any kind,” including the prohibition of same-sex marriage.

The measure, written by Vice Mayor John Dunbar, passed with three yes votes. Mayor Cynthia Saucerman and Councilwoman Margie Mohler voted with Dunbar.
Councilmen Bill Dutton and Lewis Chilton abstained from the vote, saying at Tuesday’s meeting that marriage equality is a state issue not in the council’s purview.
