Wisconsin Lutherans Oppose Gay Marriage Amendment

Opposition is growing to a proposed amendment to the Wisconsin Constitution that would ban same-sex marriage.

Now, one of the state's biggest churches is speaking out against the measure which would not only bar gays and lesbians from marrying but also prohibit civil unions.

The South-Central Wisconsin Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America has voted to oppose the amendment.

5. The United Church of Christ, the Unitarians, the Reform Jews ..

all have taken this same stand .... years ago (we had a gay Rabbi, and he did "sanctification" ceremonies).

Not all people of faith are kookie right wing fundies.

Wisconsin's proposed anti-marriage amendment is particulary punitive, in that it would also ban civil unions for same sex couples--so much for equal protection under the law. Wisconsin's dumbass, far-right state legislature apparently doesn't have anything better to do than stick it to embattled minorities.
