10. At this point, humor is my only defense mechanism.
So many posters that I disagreed with in the primaries (to the point of "ignore") and so many more that I agreed with... are now just the opposites. I have written all that I can to support the LGBTQ (now adding Q) outrage over the inclusion of Warren... now I just feel numb. Either Obama reconsiders this over his vacation and, having reconsidered, rescinds the invite or... well, I still support him but I feel betrayed and a lot less supportive than before.

For me, this was never ALL about gay rights or Prop H8. For me this was about promoting a hate mongering religious whack job (who happens to be fuzzier than the previous versions) to the position of "America's pastor". And that's a dangerous thing. I don't want my President to turn to people like this in times of crises, looking for the spiritual answer. I don't give a crap if 80 million Americans are evangelicals. They are dangerous because they promote active ignorance and stupidity. I actually don't believe the number is 80 million... I think it's more like 20 million. But some poster here or other stated this as fact.

Anyway, at this point, Obama will do whatever he decides to do. This wasn't ever about Rick Warren (for me), it was about Obama.

Fighting about that here (or anywhere) isn't going to do anything more. I already provided my feedback to the transition team. Other than take to the streets (which would be very difficult for me, living miles away from any streets), I'm not sure what else to do.

13. I know what you mean about fatigue!!
 . . .

Lucky you, living miles from streets! Can you hear trains there? I used to camp a lot and noticed how difficult it is to get away from noise in this country.

:hi:

14. I live miles from the streets, but only 100 yards from a rail line.
fortunately, it is only used twice a day on weekdays...

But then there in the main line only about 8 miles away, it's the main line across the desert southwest for Union Pacific. Big long container trains going both directions (double track) about every 30 minutes to 1 hour. All day, sometimes all night, every day.

5. Was it intentional satire or "oh, oops"
that Sarabi's shirt says "I'm not a gardener, I just like Ho's"?

:puke:

If that nasty Warren tried to put his arm around me, I'd so be tempted to break it off and beat him with the bloody end of it.

9. 'he does a lot for AIDS' - Warren LOVES touting his AIDS "help"
He loves associating himself with dying AIDS sufferers in Africa. Self-actualized and partnered American gays? Not so much.

11. I looked into his AIDS stuff...
Edited on Tue Dec-23-08 04:19 PM by lapfog_1
it comes with a lot of strings attached. Number one is that he believes that AIDS is still a problem of the gay community, whereas, in Africa especially, it's mostly about heterosexual contact. Second is that while he is all about AIDS relief, not so much about distributing free condoms (he would rather support abstinence, of course). And education is not one of his priorities. Except for education about his particular brand of "Christianity" (in quotes because IF there was a Jesus Christ, I don't think He would recognize this as His teachings).

I'm sure someone will be along shortly to "correct me". But I've done a lot of research of people who have actually witnessed his outreach programs and written about it.
