Steelers collect their Super Bowl rings
The one for the thumb: Steelers collect their Super Bowl rings

Monday, June 05, 2006
By Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The Ring Five finally arrived in Pittsburgh last night, a sequel 26 years in the making.

The Steelers received their Super Bowl rings during a ceremony in a Heinz Field lounge, nearly four months to the day after they defeated the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL in Detroit.

The ring, designed by Dan Rooney with help from halfback Jerome Bettis and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, took into account their four previous Super Bowl victories from the 1970s. It contains five Vince Lombardi trophies in dazzling diamonds around the Steelers' logo on the front and features yellow gold. It contained each player's name and number on the side, the 21-10 score of the game and the numeral XL.

1. I thought the ring would be in the shape of a Zebra
to honor their super bowl MVP, the refs. And it isn't one for the thumb. That ring would go to the guys who won the earlier super bowls. I'll always refer to XL as one for the dumb. I really enjoyed steeler fans saying how terrible the Seahawks played. And they still needed calls in their favor to win the game?

whine, crackers and cheese to go with that. By the way, with all the whining that Mike Holmgren and the rest of the Seahawks fans have done up there in Seattle, I'm suprised that they haven't drowned in their tears.

4. Well, it's already started
But I'll make this prediction: the rest of this thread will follow the same trend we see after only three posts, where 2/3 of the replies are people griping about the Steelers instead of celebrating their accomplishment. :eyes:

10. They should make one in the shape of a motorcycle helmet...
and weld it to Ben's friggin head.

Here's hoping he comes through this alright!
