The Atlanta Falcons; The Atlanta Braves of the NFL
Break others hearts during the regular season and then break your own fans hearts in the playoffs. And your uniforms suck to boot. I'm glad BRAC is taking NAS Atlanta away from you. Hopefully some of those squadrons will land on the coast; where fans with hearts reside.

1. I've said that for years.
I'm still a fan, even from 4,000 miles away. Every year they break my heart. Every year I say "never again", and then when each new season rolls around, they draw me back in and the cycle starts anew. It's been this way since I was a little girl.

2. Bless your Heart
May I recommend the Phillies and the Saints. Two teams with hearts as big as the largest planet but lacking ????? (Atlanta baseball and football fans, fill in the blanks)

7. Did the Falcons display talent today?
I think not. Did the Braves display talent in the playoffs? I think not. Here I post brokenhearted and yet you find humor in my sadness. I'll show you. I'll always be a Phillies fan and I'll always be a Saints fan and I'll always be a sore loser. Guess I told you.

8. Atlanta fan for four decades
and had my heart broken for, well, three decades and nine years. The Braves are the best runners up of all time, something the Falcons aspire to. (Beats being a Filthydelphia fan, though.)
Atlanta is one of the most dynamic economic engines ever, but it has no soul, kind of like a sterile suburban mall.

3. Who gives a f**k about sports teams? How childish
Wishing economic ills on a city is just plain nasty. FYI, there are THREE bases in ATL that are on the list: NAS Atlanta, Ft. Gillem and Ft. McPherson. Know of any other areas being that hard hit? Hmmm? Feel better now? I do!

4. If the assets go elsewhere
the net loss will be zero. I was stationed at NAS Atlanta in the 90's during the last BRAC round. Atlanta is vibrant, God knows why. It certainly isn't because of military presence. Hopefully those assets will go to other parts of the country especially near the Coast where aviation squadrons will be nearer their mission. If a town as pumped up as Atlanta can't get over the loss of a few military bases, that is an incredible negative reflection on the populace. Ya'll take the next hurricane. The fact that the Falcons suck is just Lagniappe! Look it up.

5. Hi, CurtEastPoint! Welcome to DU...
from a fellow north Georgian now residing in south Mississippi. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that "Fort Mac" would be closed. It's hard to imagine Atlanta without it. :hi:
