Just when I thought Vandy was changed this year....same ol' Vandy
LOL....they were down 2 points with 2 minutes left. They had the ball on their own one foot line, and drove the length of the field to set up a field goal with 3 seconds left. I was like....WOW...is this Vandy?
and they should be able to handle Kentucky. Of the other four teams they might have an outside chance against Florida, but I don't see it happening at this point.
5. LOL....yeah, I think that's why a lot of people are rooting for them.
The classic underdog.
I spent the first 16 years of my life in Nashville, so that's why I like them, but I know a lot of people not from the area that were pulling for them.
6. That was really a strategic error in the final seconds
Vandy was on the far right hash mark. The clock was running but they had a time out. It would have been simple for the QB to take the snap and dive quickly to the center of the field before calling time out.
Instead, he spiked the ball and then Vandy didn't call the time out at all. The kicking team rushed onto the field and Middle Tennessee St simply overloaded the right side of the formation and the inside rusher smothered the FG.
When ESPN used to show Ivy League college football regularly for a couple of seasons in the '90s I was amazed at all the mental gaffes to conclude the first half or game. They seemed to make more mistakes in strategy and clock management than so-called jock schools.
