Plaxico headed to Eagles

08:03 AM ET 06.03 | As happy as Brandon Jacobs is that Plaxico Burress will be released from prison, it's tempered by where he thinks his friend and one-time teammate is playing next. Jacobs, who was Burress' best friend on the Giants, said last night "There is no chance Plaxico Burress is a New York Giant after he comes home. None." Burress, according to Jacobs, has his sights set on signing with the Philadelphia Eagles. "Plax is a Virginia guy, (Eagles quarterback Michael) Vick is a Virginia guy. They sort of went through the same things," Jacobs said. "They've got a lot of dynamic players there. It wouldn't be a bad thing, he thinks, to go down there if you want to win. He wants to go down there, he wants to have a chance to win the Super Bowl right away."

1. I wouldn't mind the Eagles picking up Plaxico when he gets out.

Sure, I had some fun at his expense when he had his incident, but the guy was lethal against us when he was with the Giants and our success against them since he went to prison is partly due to his absence. We really need help in the red zone and he can provide it. We'll see what happens in a few days.

With D-Jax, Maclin and Avant taking the first three spots and Cooper as the four, there is no room for Burress on the team. They won't carry him as a red zone specialist at the price he's going to want and they won't waste a spot on him because he doesn't play special teams, which a third and fourth receivers almost always do. This is just a story planted by his agent in order to stir up interest, he is not coming here.
