Dog owner can't forgive Michael Vick
By Bill Plaschke

November 16, 2010|8:27 p.m.

While Michael Vick was screaming toward the sky, a black pit bull named Mel was standing quietly by a door.

On this night, like many other nights, Mel was waiting for his owners to take him outside, but he couldn't alert them with a bark. He doesn't bark. He won't bark. The bark has been beaten out of him.

While Michael Vick was running for glory, Mel was cowering toward a wall.

Every time the 4-year-old dog meets a stranger, he goes into convulsions. He staggers back into a wall for protection. He lowers his face and tries to hide. New faces are not new friends, but old terrors.

While Michael Vick was officially outracing his past Monday night, one of the dogs he abused cannot.

1. Wish i could rec this...I hope Vick rots in hell...
problem is, I don't believe in hell...and I certainly do not believe Vick is the least bit sorry for what he did...sorry he got caught, but that's about it.

3. Agreed. I love to watch a good/great athlete do his/her thing, but....
Whenever I see Vick, I just can't get past...well, his past. Anyone capable of doing something like that is most likely incapable of change, IMO.

2. This is why I can't forgive what Mike Vick did
He deserves a 2nd chance, but not everyone gets a 2nd chance. He plays football, so they gave him another chance. But there are other men out there who did much less than him and are not given a 2nd chance. I'm just glad that his dogs are given a real 2nd chance. As a dog lover, I find what he did deplorable and I will never forgive him or forget what he did.

4. Having personally worked with a number of dogs just like this
I would find it just terrible if Michael Vick was crippled forever while on the field. Honestly, I would. For real.

Vick deserves no forgiveness, from anyone.

5. I Can't Get Past It Either
It even seems he is working on becoming a better human being, not just a better QB, but that doesn't mean i'm ever going to root for him.

6. What he did indicates a fundamental cruelty and callousness that I don't think is going to change
and I don't buy this I'm going to be a better person crap -especially after the incident where he had a pay as you go birthday party where someone was shot--thats certainly Ghandi like behavior right there..:sarcasm:(oh and his brother seems to be a nasty asshat as well)

9. He was thrown off the Va Tech team for multiple offenses.
One of which involved a gun. Think about this..how badly does one have to behave to get thrown off the team that your BROTHER led to the National Championship game and of which an atheletic building bears his name.

10. If he'd been a bench warmer, he would have been gone at the slightest
infraction...different rules for them compared to you and me.
