LeBron James Chris Bosh, and Dwayne Wade are why I loathe the NBA
Edited on Thu Jul-08-10 02:30 PM by TZ
They are elitist selfish egomaniacs. Seems like that's the NBA these days- Phil Jackson and Kobe Bryant also show it. It is by far the biggest LOOK AT ME league around. The whole summitt thing reminds me off the top CEO's getting together to figure out how they can corner the market on something. Collusion is disgusting IMO. I was only occasionally watched the playoffs. Now? I"ll make a point of never watching an NBA again . It's anti-thetical to everything I like about team sports. So congrats, LeBron, you've managed to alienate a fellow native Ohioan who was inclined to like you before this... oh I'd like to compliment Kwvin Durant on extending his contract w/ OKLAHOMA CITY with no fuss---he gets it.

1. LeBron hasn't said anything officially

I do have a strong feeling LeBron will go to Miami.

I do feel differently, I don't think any of the 4 professional sports leagues are different. Teams acquire the best possible players within the salary cap unless it's baseball, where they don't have one. It happens in MLB too. At least if you mention those players mention others. Also not very often do players have leverage in a career. The majority of the time it is the owners. So I don't blame players for using that leverage for whatever that reason, if that includes giving yourself the best chance to win a championship. I love Amare Stoudemire and I'm sad to see him leave for New York. He was also nearly traded to Cleveland in the middle of the season (which ended in WCF) to the Cavaliers because he had a 1 year option on his contract meaning he could sign on for one more year or play the free agent market. But I don't blame him for taking a $1 Million dollar short of a max contract deal to go play for the Knicks. As someone who likes the Pacers from the East, I will actually root for his success and even for the Knicks for the first time ever. (I haven't hated the Knicks so much since they lost to Spurs in the Finals and the playoff series to the Pacers after that).

I won't ask you to watch the NBA, you're of course free to do whatever you want without my permission. I will still watch and root for the Suns! :)

My point is the business aspect creates this and the NBA is not alone.

4. No I don't recall anykind of circus like this
For individual free agents who are getting together to reshape things in other sports- and as someone who does work in a corporate world, the parallels between the disgusting unethical practices I have seen big companies do sometimes and these three is unavoidable. The NBA is the Wall Street of Sports.

5. I know you can blame Toronto owner

for Bosh. He badly misread his attentions with his most valuable player and Bosh took a deal that was $20 million short of a max contract. Wade stayed with the team that drafted him. The reason for the circus is because LeBron is THE biggest free agent to hit the market in years. Also there was/is a lot of valuable free agents there as well. I know the NFL draft is a huge circus. First month of free agency in the NFL is big in the sports media. I recall Baltimore acquiring Boldin via trade. Dolphins sign Karlos Dansby. Giants sign Antrel Rolle. Washington trades for McNabb. There was much news that were talked about a lot in the sports media. Also coaches being fired and signed is also big news.

At least mention those leagues transactions. Players try to sign with best teams in any league.

11. Except when it was A-Rod
Everytime he skipped teams, he lied about it. He didn't go to the Rangers for the money, he said. Because he wanted to play for a winner. Then, after he'd sucked up all their money, he said he had to go to New York because the Rangers "wouldn't build a team around him". Hello? With what money?

He was a cancer on baseball.

3. On The Other Hand...
it is early July and everybody is talking NBA.

You may not like it but, from a marketing standpoint, this is a bonanza for the league and its players.

8. Lebron has been a standup guy the entire time he has been in the
league. Somehow, despite the fact that I am actually interested in where he goes (and the hubby is obsessed, he is a huge NBA fan) and will watch tonight, I do not feel overwhelmed with Lebronmania -- have not seen that much of it.

Hey, if his mother took the trouble to name him Dwy-ane, the least we can do is pronounce it that way!
