Ref in U.S. World Cup game dropped
The referee who threw out the United States' would-be winning goal last week will not officiate another World Cup match anytime soon, FIFA announced Monday.

Mali-born Koman Coulibaly, who disallowed a crucial American goal against Slovenia on Friday night, was left off the list of referees for the next two days of matches.

The game ended in a 2-2 tie, rather than a 3-2 American victory that would have marked the biggest World Cup comeback ever.

FIFA officials have been tight-lipped about the controversial call.

4. I blame FIFA for all of this.
It's bad enough that a ref can call off a goal without providing any justification or explanation (is there any other sport in which a clear score can be nullified without any explanation?) but for FIFA officials to not provide ANY information afterward and sweep it all under the rug gives them as much credibility as a state boxing commission.

Refs make bad calls, and leagues may not be able to overturn those calls, but to not come out and at least explain what happened is beyond belief. We already know that their top priority is not to make sure the call is correct, hell, just go ask anyone from Ireland, but to not even explain exactly what was called is just fucking ridiculous.
