Pat Burrell joins the Giants..
Returning to the National League and joining the team he followed as a youth has left the 33-year-old as thrilled as a rookie.

"The way things have worked out, I couldn't be happier," said Burrell, the slugging outfielder whose contract was purchased Friday from Triple-A Fresno. "I'm here to help in any way they want me to."

For the near future, the right-handed-batting Burrell likely will serve as a pinch-hitter and as an occasional starter in left field, which he occupied with Philadelphia from 2000-08. Burrell's power potential, reflected by his 267 career home runs, was enough to prompt the Giants to sign him to a Minor League contract on Saturday.

This guy was having a terrible time in Tampa, but he's only a little over a year removed from hitting 33 HRs with the Phils. Anything that can potentially add punch to the Giants lineup, I'm for..

On Edit: I went to AT&T Park on Sunday while on vacation and it was very nice. Loved it!

2. Well that's it...
The Dodgers, Rockies and Padres should just pack it in now and give up. The mighty Pat Burell will obviously lead the Ginats to world series victory.

4. You see that shot Huff hit last night?
That ball almost ended up in the Allegheny river..

No risk with Burrell at all..and I seem to remember him hitting balls out of AT&T Park too. On a Giants team that struggles with hitting and with DeRosa down, Burrell is certainly worth a try.

5. I missed the entire game...
encouraging to hear they came back, though.

Yeah, agree about Burrell.
