4. Hell is in East Jerusalem
Hell doesn't appear anywhere in the Bible. Hell is, in fact, a garbage dump.

The Jewish faith states that all Jews will rise from the dead when Gabriel blows his horn. Your soul is a part of your body and stays with you while waiting. Many Orthodox Jews will not have their organs donated when they die for fear that they will need them in Heaven.

If a body is not buried, it can rot and cause disease. If a body is found and no one claims it, it is brought to Hell to be burned with the trash, as well as your soul.

If you have no body, you cannot go to Heaven and be with God. Thus the statement "Go to Hell" means wishing for you to not to be with God.

14. No, actually he is right.
When Jesus made reference to Hell the word he used was Gehenna. It was outside the wall of Jerusalem. Because of Jewish laws regarding cleanliness, everything that was considered garbage was thrown there: the carcases of the sacrificial lambs after they were burned and eaten; old furniture/clothing/tools; the contents of their chamber pots-aka shit; and the dead bodies of their criminals. For Sanitation purposes, there was an eternal fire burning night and day. The fires kept down the incident of disease but not the smell. The smoke was said to be acrid beyond the ability to breathe. If you visited the place you were ceremonial unclean and couldn't enter the Temple courtyard until you had a ritual bath and even then you had to wait until sunset, which was the start of a new day. Because Jesus was crucified as a criminal, He could have been subjected to having His dead body thrown there. But thanks to Joseph of Arimethea (?) an important, wealthy member of the Sanhedrin, Jesus was given a proper burial (at least for 2 days) in Joseph's own tomb. All of which was in fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy.

7. We make our own hell in our minds and hearts.
Kind of like Winston in "1984"...what we fear the most is our own hell.

11. Nobody ever understands hell...
It's not a place you go to... It's a place you become a part of spiritually, just as Heaven is a place we become a part of spiritually. Hell is the place created when corrupted entities promote hatred, pain, death and destruction through the manipulation of divine reason. Heaven is the place you become a part of when you promote life, truth and understanding.
As the 'Lord's Prayer' states... "Thy Kingdom Come, Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven." This was his prayer because this was his reason for being. He didn't promote hatred, cause people pain and promote killing people because that's simply not the way things are done in Heaven. However, The 'Lord's Prayer' is a two way street. As he committed himself to creating Heaven on Earth, corrupted entities commit themselves to creating Hell on Earth.

With that said... We are in a holy war, but it's not a war between Islam and Christianity. This holy war is a war between Heaven and Hell. Those who choose to promote hatred, death and destruction through the manipulation of divinity are trying to create hell while those who promote life, truth and understanding are trying to create Heaven. That's the undeniable fact this world is faced with.

Edited on Tue Feb-01-05 07:40 PM by Az
We got a Hell Michigan about 35-40 miles away. Lovely little village. Scenic drive. And yes it does freeze over.

PS The two roads leading to Hell are Darwin and Church. Really.

17. I've been to two Hells.
The first was on ... Grand Cayman, I think. Boring little place.

The second was up near Jablonce in the Czech republic. Peklo, a little village we biked through. Chickens in the streets, pigs in the yard ... like the worst stereotypes of Appalachia.
