1. What a refreshing change -
violence over a book that is neither the Bible nor the Koran.

4. Just wait - some apologists will tell is it's all politics or tribalism
and attacking people because of their opinion on religion somehow has nothing to do with religion.

6. Article says: "... lower-caste .. attacked .. by .. higher caste ..."
Violence against an "uppity" lower class, to keep them "in their place," is a widespread phenomenon. The ideological justifications for such violence vary with context. Lynchings in the Jim Crow South frequently were attended with cries to "save white Christian women" -- though of course such terrorism served the major structural purpose of reinforcing the low status of the black underclass. One would naturally expect a different ideological justification for threat of violence that enforced the feudal Polish robot system. When King Leopold in Belgium decided to enrich himself by carving out a private colony in the Congo, he sent armed mercenaries -- but he made quite sure that the adventure was framed in the home press as a humanitarian project of Christianizing and educating the "savages," with little mention of the soldiers and weapons he exported, so that actual events were obscured behind mystifying "feel-good" babble

I find your post depressing, not because of your conclusion, but because you leap to the conclusion based entirely on ideological prejudices, rather than a careful examination of the actual event, actors, and historical/political/cultural context

7. It also says based on attitude towards holy text no? Is that an ideological prejudice?
Can religion EVER cause violence? Tell me do.
