The movie was absolutely fantastic!

Parts of it had the whole theater laughing hysterically.

All I can say is, thank god for Bill Maher!

I only wish that when he interviewed people like the guy from Holy Land Experience and various other pastors, he put up on the screen the status of their current legal battles.

That will probably be on the director's cut DVD.

The movie was actually very ballanced where ballance was called for, like in Maher's meeting with the "Trucker's Chapel." You could tell Maher respected the sincerity of the Christian truckers, and even accepted their prayers for him.

And I really want to see more of the wacky priest bill met outside The Vatican! He deserves his own talk show!

Oh, and the ending... the ending is a warning... a serious, deadly warning that I hope we can heed in time.

Definitely a must-see!

5. Or at least loses less.
I hope this movie finds an audience.

It truly deserves one.

But I have no idea how much of a market there is for it.

That's why we have to see it.

To make sure it doesn't wither and die.

And I can't wait for the Director's Cut on DVD!

8. I think for people in the DU, some of it is repetative. The whole stuff about end of times and
all have been discussed here often. I think it will really educate that portion of the population who were not aware of christian radicals (or all radicals). For DUers... it may not be as informative but is HILLARIOUS to watch. Every scene had a laugh. That is all you can ask from a comedy.

13. Brashly Beautiful -- Or Beautifully Brash-- Symphony of Doubts
Edited on Thu Oct-09-08 07:47 PM by Overseas
Gazillion Thanks to Bill Maher for brashly smashing together all of my doubts about religion in a gorgeous, humorous and calm yet passionate manner !!

Thanks too because I got to see lots of iconic religious sites around the world. The insides of glorious temples and churches, as we explored their tenets. Interspersed with cinematic flash-ins of iconic religious moments from the silver screen.

Brashly brilliant editing of mountains of material on The Gad Question-- on location. Loved the additional resonance of the localities. Taking us inside temples as well as onto the city streets and into TV stages to discuss religion with devout practitioners.

I agree that as troubling as some of the bold questions tossed into the film at certain times are, Maher remained appropriately respectful and diplomatically honest. They are decent questions I've asked myself. So that was ever so cathartic having him drop them into the mix. Wih all due respect. Due.

He didn't hesitate to poke fun in a creatively bold manner. Many times just by taking us through a particular religious environment, to hear their pitch. But then after a few smarmy segments on Christian TV stages, his team splices in some high speed film of the intense barbarism in the religious history of the big 3.

Formidable !!

Slamming !!

And yes, we were all laughing in the theater. And more.

15. A must see, LMAO
Just saw it in Seattle, but the theater was almost empty. Only about 15 people total. An older couple got up in disgust about half way through the movie. Anyway, laughed till I was red in the face. A must see NOW.
