War World Z -- Max Brooks.
Wow. If you're into socio-political thrillers, this one is a must read. Everything that could possibly go wrong when the plague hits is covered in this book. Max Brooks is like the Randy Shilts of the Zombie phenomenon.

It's an old book. circa 2006, but I heard Brad Pitt picked up the rights to make it into a movie.

2. Not only is Brad Pitt's production company making the movie
Edited on Wed Jul-28-10 07:30 PM by Rob H.
he's going to star in it. Too bad it's not slated to hit theaters 'til 2012. :(

On the plus side, The Zombie Survival Guide and The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks have been optioned for films, too. :D

Brooks said the studio recently received a new draft of the "World War Z" script, and "Quantum of Solace" director Marc Forster is still attached to direct the film.

"I'm glad they took their time, and are trying to make the best zombie movie they can," said Brooks. "I'm so glad they stayed with the project and so glad they found the right team."

Of the two new books optioned by Paramount, "The Zombie Survival Guide" offers instructions for surviving an attack by the living dead, while "Recorded Attacks" chronicles some of the major battles that occurred in the war against zombies. The "Recorded Attacks" graphic novel was published through a partnership with Random House and Avatar Press.

3. What character is he going to play?
There were lots of opportunities here for several "stars" since it's a rolling account of what happened around the world.

7. Just started this after reading about it in another thread.
I just finished the "Warning" section. This is even better than "The Walking Dead" on AMC. Done right, this will make a superb movie.

9. I've said before that it's far more intelligent than a zombie story has the right to be.
Like you say, he covers everything . I've read it a couple of times already, and when I get it back from nephew (sometime before 2020 I'm hoping) I'll read it again. :)
