Recount in Indiana
9th District recount to begin at end of month

<snip>---
Nov. 17 - Congressman-elect Mike Sodrel posed for pictures with the new class of lawmakers this week in Washington DC. Sodrel won by nearly 1,500 votes.

But there's concern whether Sodrel really won.

His opponent, incumbent Congressman Baron Hill, and fellow Democrats want a recount.

Dan Parker is the new state Democratic Party chairman. "A citizen's right to vote is the most precious right we have and I think the people have a right to know their votes were counted in an appropriate manner."

1. Good for him.
It is the least the Democrats can do for those who have worked so hard.

2. I live in Hill/Sodrel District.
Sodrel who owns a trucking business ran against Hill last election and lost by a few % points. This time Dick Cheney came to visit and raise money for him.

Hill is not a true democrat by any means he is pretty conservative but he is a hell of alot better than this clown.

I heard Sodrel's radio and ads from his backers and they where out right garbage.

One Sodrel said he grew up in public housing, if he did now he wants to do away with it.

The worse ad was one by some operatives:

I which essentially called Hill a flag burning, baby killer who trades with communist china and he wanted to ban the bible.

One part of the ad Hill approved to do business with communist China! I had to laugh he voted with Bush and he get salmmed by right wingers!

They had posters up saying Hill wanted to take God out of school!

It was pathetic.

4. Indiana is way way right wing.
Indiana has voted GOP for president every year since Lyndon Johnson.

Indiana is a close as you can get to southern mentality wihtout actually being in the 'South'

Many 'Hoosiers' came from deep woods of Kentucky.

In the 1920's Indiana was run by the KKK.

During the civil way some people form Indiana fought on the confedrate side.

The urban areas are usually demcatic now and until this Sodrel/ Hill election that district was a democratic area. It was Lee Hamilton's old seat, he sat on 911 commity.

its has been 40 years + since a GOP has won that seat.

This disctrict is mainly a border district wiht KY mainly Lousiville, KY so you have rural and urban voters in the mix.
