Editorial: Certified voting mess

County election commissioners have hands full

Friday, February 6, 2009 10:13 AM EST

New York State didn't have a problem with its lever-action machines, and only needed to have another type of machine available for those with disabilities who found the older machines difficult to use. It didn't need a big revamping.

2. Of course we didn't! But...

...the editorial makes one serious error: they said "the company that serviced the old style mechanical voting machines has gone out of business."

This is not the case and there is a letter from the company stating conditions for continued servicing of the AVM machines used in most of the counties in the state, which they say can be maintained "indefinitely."

Here's a link:

Spread this around to all NY counties, who seem to be wanting for such information! And tell the editor of this paper to print a correction!

Also see this on the NY Forum!:
