NYT: New York State May Suspend Tests of New Voting Machines
If any of the other 49 states that bought into e-voting are feeling a little stupid right now, it's quite understandable.

New York State May Suspend Tests of New Voting Machines

By NICHOLAS CONFESSORE

Published: January 5, 2007

ALBANY, Jan. 4 - New York State elections officials said on Thursday that they would consider suspending the testing of new voting machines in the state, after learning that the laboratory hired to perform the tests was barred by federal authorities last summer from accrediting new state voting systems.

snip

If we had known that, and if we had seen the report from them, we would have know why they were decertified, and maybe we wouldn't have hired them to begin with, or maybe we would have made some remedial changes, said Lee Daghlian, a spokesman for the New York State Board of Elections.

snip

It may not delay use of the new machines, he said. If this report comes in and it's something really bad that we didn't know about, we may have to start all over again.

snip

The potential delay was the latest setback for New York's efforts to comply with federal requirements that the state modernize its voting system to deal with concerns stemming from the 2000 election. The state has faced sanctions from the federal government for failing to comply with the new federal standards, which required new voting machines by last fall's elections.

2. The truth (NYTspeak in translation): setback = advance, comply with = defy,
federal = Bushite, modernize = corrupt, concerns = non-existent concerns, sanctions = bullying, new voting machines = new electronic voting machines run on trade secret, proprietary programming, owned and controlled by Bushite corporations.

Thus: "The potential delay was the latest ADVANCE for New York's efforts to DEFY BUSHITE requirements that the state CORRUPT its voting system to deal with NON-EXISTENT CONCERNS stemming from the 2000 election. The state has faced BULLYING from the BUSHITE government for DEFYING the new BUSHITE standards, which required NEW ELECTRONIC VOTING MACHINES RUN ON TRADE SECRET, PROPRIETARY PROGRAMMING CODE, OWNED AND CONTROLLED BY BUSHITE CORPORATIONS, by last fall's elections."

(The NYT original paragraph: "The potential delay was the latest setback for New York's efforts to comply with federal requirements that the state modernize its voting system to deal with concerns stemming from the 2000 election. The state has faced sanctions from the federal government for failing to comply with the new federal standards, which required new voting machines by last fall's elections.")

Note also: This "potential delay" is due to the Bush-appointed "Election Assistance Commission" SHUTTING DOWN one of the main secret industry voting machine "testing" labs LAST SUMMER--prior to the most important Congressional elections in our history--WITHOUT TELLING ANYBODY. The 30-some Democratic win in Congress could be a 40 to 50-seat win, depending on just how bad the "quality control" at Ciber Inc. was (and it sounds pretty bad). If FL-13 is any guide, there was massive insider hacking of the machines to try to prevent a bigger Democratic landslide. FL-13 was quite dramatic. Other races might not have been so visibly wrong. All is shrouded in corporate secrecy. ES&S, for instance, is refusing to disclose its secret vote counting software even with EIGHTEEN THOUSAND votes 'disappeared' in FL-13 (in a race decided for the Bushite by only 300 or so votes).

The EAC is a corrupt Bushite organization, created by the "Help America Vote For Bush Act" of 2002, masterminded by the biggest crooks in the Anthrax Congress--Tom Delay and Bob Ney, now indicted/drummed out of office (abetted by corporatist 'Democrat' Christopher Dodd), which appropriated $3.9 billion in electronic voting boondoggle funds, to bribe, bully and corrupt election officials and legislators across the land, into fast-tracking these secretly programmed, crapass, Bushite-controlled voting machines. SECRECY is the watchword of the EAC. The first act of the Diebold II Congress should have been to abolish both the EAC and the "Help America Vote For Bush Act." but, of course....it, too, was (s)elected by Diebold and ES&S, and, although some of its members would have been elected anyway, and there is strong evidence of a voter revolt overwhelming the machines (for the 30-seat win), too many members of Congress are beholden for their power to Diebold/ES&S and not to the voters.

You wonder why "impeachment is off the table." You wonder why the Iraq War seems to be "off the table" except at the White House--with SEVENTY PERCENT of the American people wanting an end to the war. This is why.

I would not be surprised if someone picked CIBER deliberately knowing they would screw up big time. But that's just a guess on my part.

On the other hand, what better way to resist the madness than to expose it in this way.

Even our most ardent scanner advocates are calling for a halt to the certification process now in NY.
