Mississippi went to diebold this year and I used the machine during our Senate primary. When I saw the diebold label it was like I saw a cottonmouth ready to bite me. I believe my body temperature actually lowered. There is somewhat of a paper trail and its to believe that republicans would have to steal elections in Mississippi.
2. I heard Bobby Kennedy Jr on Mike Malloy last night...
He said...
"A Diebold machine costs about $2,800 to purchase and about $98.00 to manufacture". "That shoud give you an indication of how secure these machines really are"
Indeed.
The machines that we use to elect our leaders are cheaper to make than a freaking Playstation.
3. Think of it as the modern Divine Right of Kings....
The Nobility chooses the leaders and the peasants are to believe that they actually made the choice. Same as in Medieval times, except then it was "God" who chose the leader.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some shit to shovel...
4. They couldn't do it without the stenographers who crank out story
after thoughtless story praising these systems. You really notice it when you work the ERD. There will be a cluster of positive stories when a new jurisdiction gets shiny new machines. If one rejects them, there will be a cluster of critical stories warning about some kind of immanent doom.
Together, they create the appearance of popular consensus.
