Is Bruce McPherson related to Sally McPherson, SD Registrar of Voters?
You know the former registrar who retired last year after ruling against Donna Frye's winning write-in votes that kept her from becoming mayor then.

I think another earlier post didn't notice any relation between the two of them, but it does seem rather coincidental that the first rollout of these voting machines is coming up on April 11th for the Special Election for Duke Cunningham's replacement. They are probably going to say that it's too late to have any injunction from this weeks' lawsuit apply to this election, and that they are already counting on these machines being deployed. If that is the case, it sounds like they didn't have a backup plan if Bruce McPherson DIDN'T have these machines recertified, which kind of smells fishy. They will probably also try to argue that if they get the machines used for this election that that would be a reason to not have an injunction later for the primaries or the general election in November if they "worked OK" for this coming election.

It does seem rather coincidental that she retired after 31 years or so in office right around the same time that Arnold appointed Bruce as Secretary of State. In addition to the Donna Frye write-in vote fiasco, she was probably also in charge when Bev Harris had a lot of the documented problems here in San Diego's voting machines earlier. It is also not too coincidental that the Clerk of Courts, Board of Supervisor's here are all Republican, making corruption more ripe here.

I think it would be worth our while here in San Diego to see if it is still not too late to switch from Diebold TSX machines to optical scan machines, and if not, what is the drop dead date where they have to commit one way or the other. If it is coming up near the end of the week or something like that, perhaps that could be handed to the judge this week to hopefully prompt the judge to rule quickly on this lawsuit so that we can kick Diebold out here.

Mikel Hass, Sally McPherson's replacement as Registrar of Voters here, is one of the defendents/respondents listed in the lawsuit, which has me presume that San Diego is one of the 18 counties that is targeted with this lawsuit.

1. I have no idea whether or not they're related.
Maybe the name is cursed for some. ;)

But the practice of presiding over elections, totally screwing voters, and then retiring is becoming pretty popular.
Mischelle Townsend screwed Riverside County voters before resigning. What a scandal!

2. We did an exhaustive search using several paid search services
and found no direct family connection between them.

3. Cool... Probably some weird set of "coincidences"...
It's hard not to get suspicious these days though, with all of the underhanded tricks going around us.

4. Relation to Bruce McPherson/Sally McPherson
According to the office of the Registrar of Voters in San Diego County.....for whatever it's worth, Sally McPherson, former RoV is NOT related to Bruce McPherson, our current appointed Secretary of State. I also called McPherson's office here in Sacramento.....they haven't a clue.

Kind of amusing when I was hitting the ROV web site this morning to confirm whether there would be scanned ballots for the upcoming April 11th election. According to the web site, Sally is still the ROV here! :)

Scary. If we do expose fraud in this whole voting machine thing here in California and they ever did a movie that would have her in a role in this, seems like Sigourney Weaver would look the part...
