Scandal Convergence: DeLay and NH phone jamming
Thanks to skids and Daily Kos for the scoop!
The house of cards is toppling!!!!

Scandal Convergence: DeLay and NH phone jamming
by Elwood Dowd
Fri Oct 14, 2005 at 06:51:07 AM PDT
In the 2002 election, the GOP hired a consulting firm that used automatic dialers to jam the Democratic 'get out the vote' operation in New Hampshire. Two GOP operatives have pled guilty in the case and a third goes to trial in November.

Today's Boston Globe reports that the money for the illegal phone jamming apparently came from Tom DeLay and Jack Abramoff. The consulting firm was paid $15,600 by the state party within weeks of the party receiving $15,000 in contributions from the two.

Elwood Dowd's diary :: ::
So far, Sen. John Sununu -- who won a close race against Jeanne Shaheen in 2002 -- has not been implicated or tainted in the scandal. But, he clearly was a beneficiary of the dirty tricks campaign.

Republican Governor Craig Benson was tossed out in 2004 after a single two-year term, very unusual in NH. He had his own scent of corruption, for example reassigning a state environmental worker who had fined him for violations at his oceanfront home. Rep. Charlie Bass is refusing to return some $15,000 in contributions from DeLay.

Fellow sufferers of Pre-Indictment Stress Syndrome, do not despair. There is plenty of activity on the scandal front while we await Fitzgerald's next move.

6. It's all going to end up connected to Abramoff and the Mafia.
Abramoff has his sticky pawprints all over every top Puke in this town (DC). When the dimensions of the Abramoff scandal fully emerge, it will make Traitorgate look like child's play.

10. I believe you may be right on that ep.
Abramoff pops up more than almost any other criminal nearest and dearest to our fine :sarcasm: government officials.

7. Great find MelissaG!
The media is finally shedding some light into the dark underworld that DeLay lives in. Only one more piece would make it perfect, and you know it's in there somewhere. Karl Rove probably had something to do with it too.

Follow the money, it's still the key.

re redistricting in Texas, this is starting to look a lot more fun! It's sweet watching the Buggieman get his comeuppance...
I'm hoping our man Ronnie Earle gets Rove and oh so many others like Craddick tied into this and takes them all down for their subversion of Democracy!!!!:hi:

11. We need something tying DeLay to e-votin' machines in TX or elsewhere.
Now how hard could that possibly be to find?

14. The key is to ask to see ballot definition programming files.
Edited on Sun Oct-16-05 01:32 PM by Bill Bored
These are not TRADE SECRETS, they are created by BoEs or vendors on GEMS or similar election management system servers before the election.

They control how the straight party votes are shifted from candidate to candidate and who is included in this and who's not and also whether the names on the e-ballot correspond to the names in the vote counting database.

If you know any activists who could try to get this data, or any other data, such as comparing precinct totals to central tabulator totals you should mention it to them. (BTW, the latter is not a clever way to steal an election because of how easy it is to discover.)

Perhaps the ballot definitions and "tally rules" are something the prosecution can obtain through court orders. It's not easy to get this info otherwise but it is the way to steal votes using the off-the-shelf hardware and software. Clint Curtis need not apply. It's point and click and the precinct totals will always match the tabulator totals. It is therefore undetectable except as machine "glitches" or it may not be seen at all. And you will end up with WPE in the exit polls too, but I'm reluctant to use that as evidence because unfortunately, it's just too easy to refute.

So if you know someone who knows someone who knows Ronnie Earle, maybe it's something he could look into. Even if nothing is found, the mere fact that this is being investigated will help our cause for free and fair elections, wouldn't it?
