Is there hope for a fraud story/stories?
This letter is from www.poynter.org, a site run by the Poynter Institute that serves as a sort of catch-all forum for journalists and other media types. It reinforces my suspicion (and hope) that at least one enterprising main stream media outlet will produce a story about voter fraud AFTER it's been thoroughly vetted by the lawyers.

From WARREN BERGER: I'd like to get opinions on the following: How difficult do you think it would it be right now for a major news organization to aggressively pursue a story on possible election fraud? Obviously, there were lots of cautionary stories before the election about Diebold, etc., but I haven't seen much post-election follow-up so far (other than a few smatterings about isolated voting booth mishaps). One could say, well there's no big story to pursue, but there are some interesting tidbits floating around. This comes from a site that is not impartial, and I'm not vouching for the reliability of this particular story, but it does show that there are some unsettling questions being raised on the fringes right now.

The question is, are these rumblings on the fringes likely to be picked up by the mainstream press -- or might there be a reluctance, because no one wants to run the risk of being "Rathered?"  Especially given the post-election mood -- which tells us "the people have spoken," and "This is not 2000" and "time to move on." It just seems to me that any major news outlet that questions election results in the current environment is likely to find itself on Fox News facing charges of being a sore loser, a divider, or of refusing to accept "the clear message that America has sent."

4. the thing that bothers me most about this letter...
is the idea that any self-respecting journo would give two shits about how he/she is characterized by Fox News.

5. I'm beginning to think the corporate media won't acknowledge the
problem with these machines until the pukes realize they could lose one through hacking. I don't know enough about hacking, so I can't explain why they don't already fear this.

8. I think so, but only if we make it impossible to ignore.
That means DAILY calls, letters, emails, LTTEs, faxes to media, representatives etc. That means passing the word to every one you meet. That means making others raise the same questions we have.

And most of all, it means not giving in to the sense of defeat that many are trying to spread. We all need all our energy and strength for this fight.

This fight is for a much more important goal than just saving a possible Kerry presidency. It is to eliminate the threat of vote manipulation to the future of American democracy.

*'s increased electoral standing in 45 out of 50 states over that of 2000 (red states redder and blue states less blue) and in the face of the general consensus of the pre-election polls. The media look stupid enough after the CBS and ABC problems. Here in Kerry Country, liberal MA, there is very little news about any vote fraud. There is more talk about the NE Pats (go Pats, SB Champs), the Red Sox (WS Champs), and Curt Schilling (chimp supporter). Our complaints continue to fall on deaf ears.
