ACTION NOW - WE NEED TO GET BUSY!!!!
Remember 60min II and the whole Rathergate BS that the rightwingnuts created? Well, how do you suppose they did that? yapping about it amoungst themselves on freerepublic.com?

I seriously doubt it.

What I really think is not only do they scream to their elected officials like we do, but they massively call/email/mail the major news outlets with offical press releases and other letters and call news tip lines, etc.... ON A MASSIVE SCALE. ALL REPEATING THE SAME MESSAGE.

WE MUST DO THIS WITH MAJOR THINGS LIKE THE SHELLEY SCANDAL, AND HOW HE IS BEING DRIVEN FROM OFFICE FOR DOING THE RIGHT THING. We need to be SCREAMING about the crooks behind it. THIS SHOULD BE PRIORITY ONE UNTIL WE SEE ACTION ON IT.

Again it all comes back to who wants e-voting, and who wants to fight it.

WE NEED TO ACT LIKE OUR OWN MEDIA ARMY!!!!! AND IT MUST BE NOW!!!!!!!

1. California resident here
1. First of all can anyone link me to the charges and allegations against shelly.

2. Why didn't Shelly let the Dems in California know that he was low on legal funds?

I know we need to get started on the grassroots effort. I will not support someone guilty of crimes no matter what side he is on. If he is innocent and these are chumped up allegations then he needs to let the people of California know. What I find frustrating is the lack of communication and organization on the Dem side. I'm willing to call, fax and contribute all that I can if these are chumped allegations.

Yes, many of us are trying to figure out the exact story.

4. If you will read the threads,
you will note that innumerable people are working their asses off researching, fund raising, conducting analyses, contacting and educating elected officials, media and friends, are on the ground helping with recounts, evidence-gathering and lawsuits, on many issues, including the Shelley question.

Your "screaming" at us with capital letters is uneccessary and rude. You have suggested nothing that many of us are not already working on.

We are trying to gather thoughts and information on Shelley on this thread: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=203&topic_id=318241&mesg_id=318241

Hopefully we can organize some action together.

Edited on Sun Feb-06-05 11:37 PM by bardgal
All you can do is yell at me about my CAPS???? Is that REALLY WHAT WE SHOULD BE FOCUSING ON???? ARE YOU F-ING KIDDING???????

YOU NEED TO GET OVER YOUR PRISSY F-ING MANNERS FIXATION!!!! What else is there to do but F-ING SCREAM about what is happening to our country?????

YOU SHOULD BE THANKFUL ANYONE IS WILLING TO SCREAM ABOUT ANYTHING AT THIS POINT.

If all you have to do is be a whiny baby with your precious sensibilities all hurt then maybe you need to go away on vacation until you aren't so easily offended anymore, or wait until you can finally see the desperation of the fact we are already off the damned CLIFF!!!

NO WONDER WE F-ING LOSE!!!! ALL WE CAN DO IS FIND FAULT WITH EACH OTHER, AND ARE COMPLETELY INCAPABLE OF SEEING THE BIG PICTURE.

Stop wasting web space attacking me, and f-ing FOCUS for fuxsake.

My POINT is, we counter attack like the right seems to have the cajones to do. Do you think for a minute anyone on the right would whine like you're doing???

WAKE THE F^@K UP!!!!

7. Dear bardgal,
There are plenty of people as passionate and as upset as you over events, and mostly they refrain from using strings of all caps in their messages. Many people find all caps difficult to read; it can detract from your message getting through.

As for those who are less passionate or those who just don't get it, I don't think your use of caps helps much. Really.

No one of us has all the answers by ourself. Few of us can write a perfect post or comment that ties it all together or steers everyone to correct action. But working together, in spite of our individual imperfections, we can clean up this awful mess.

Many are very passionate about various issues involved. Many are working under stress and making sacrifices to contribute what they are able.

I suggest that your same message, written in more standard English would be more effective.

Although I personally am a semi-worthless nobody, I happen to know that some of the people who participate here are profoundly worthy -- as proven by years of valuable work for little or no material reward -- of our respectful listening to what they have to say. Even some people "new to the game" have valuable contributions, and much more to offer as time goes on.

We are not all going to agree on anything, and we have a long haul ahead.

For what it's worth to you or those reading this thread, here are your posts in more standard English (I have software to help do this fast.) I submit that the "more standard English" makes them more readable; then people can see what you are saying and choose to respond or not.

Hey, we are in this together. :)

If the discussion of the use of caps is where our energy is - we're lost.

8. Apparently, the Rather-gate controversy was first discussed on FR
It was the Freepers who questioned the validity of the memos presented on "60 Minutes Wednesday." Hang in there, we're all with you, and DU is now large enough to be a force to be reckoned with.

11. Yes, I agree that we should be doing more
But in this political climate, it is tough. Dan Rather talked about this very thing happening, in an interview with Greg Palast. He said that any journalist who reports the wrong kind of story, in the American media, would be "necklaced," an apartheid term in which a burning tire was placed around someone's neck. Well, guess what? Dan did just that, and he was effectively "necklaced." And he gave this interview on Greg Palast's BBC show, "Newsnight," not here in the U.S. Greg Palast is one of the few speaking out, but he works for the British press. To just get to the truth, you have to turn to the foreign press or the internet.

And local papers aren't any better. They cancel columns by the likes of Molly Ivins and publish letters to the editor that support he administration.

I contact my Democratic senators on all the important issues, but they have let me down so many times. I was both pleased and astounded when I learned that they both voted against Gonzales. As for my Freeper congressman, he's got to be really sick of hearing from me. And he just won big, again, in November, and the local paper said that he could probably have the job for life, if he wanted it. *sigh*

Yes, we should do and need to be doing more, but, these days, it's like pushing a very big rock up a very steep hill. I'm not saying that we should give up, but we're not going to get this done overnight. Having Dean as DNC chair is, I think, an excellent step forward. He was not my candidate, but I think he has the knowledge and the support to galvanize the party.
