About Kerry's chess game....
He took out most of Bush's pawns today...made them look like the weasels they are. They've lost a ton of credibility.

1. how?
Edited on Fri Jan-07-05 06:58 AM by LiberalVoice
and to whom did they lose this credibility to? Surely not the american people...The only people that watched anything on C-span yesterday were Liberals who already know what Bush is all about and Die Hard Neo-cons who love him for it.

Further more Kerry didn't have shit to do with yesterday events.

We're going to need ALOT MORE then what happened yesterday for americans to start actually waking up.

3. I didn't say it was...
But we're not even close to being on top yet. Yesterdays events didn't do anything to change the american peoples minds about the direction we're heading in.

4. Nope the game is not over....
there are 2 bishops, 2 castles, the king and the queen if I remember chess. The pawns are discredited..they're done. I think the calls to Frist and Hastert about investigating are a part of the game.

5. Ah... but even if they didn't see it -- it's on tape
Edited on Fri Jan-07-05 07:00 AM by KaliTracy
and... not only on tape -- but on tape with those who were standing saying our system is broken. And all of the republicans (exceot 1?) saying "Nothing is Wrong -- this opens the door to Terroism." If they continue to deny there are problems, it will come back on them as more and more investigations take place in Ohio and elsewhere.

7. What are you talking about?
"... most of bush's pawns..."?
Who are the pawns?
How did who lose credibility at what?

Who?
What?
When?
Where?
How many of the above did you answer?

15. I think it's an inside joke
After the primary campaign, an emissary from the Kerry camp made a brief appearance to read the pulse of our cyber-demographic. When s/he grew frustrated with the inevitable armchair quarterbacking, s/he stated that we were playing checkers as the campaign was playing chess (or maybe it was Karl Rove who was playing checkers, I don't remember exactly). Long story short, it was an unforgivable act of hubris to many of the regulars, so the chess metaphor kind of lodged in DU's collective unconscious.

24. All the repugs (pawns) could talk about was Michael Moore, while the dems
talked about our right to vote and democracy. Repugs were petty, mean, and anti-fair election. . .they just read karl's talking points.

Where Kerry went into hiding and never came out. If there's a game going on, he's not playing. He quit early.

13. Two points
Draw them out--
I was at work so I only caught a glimpse of it--a ?representative? I don't know who, was shouting during the hearings--they've even accused us of having a direct line from the white house to the polling booths and that we are manipulating the vote FROM THE WHITE HOUSE--

Really? What an interesting idea

Shore up the base
Hi, I'm John Kerry and I know what it's like going to work in the morning and getting your ass blown off.

14. And how many people saw who those weasels were? We did, but
did Joe Blow from Texas see the pure evil that DeLay is? Is this being covered by MSM? I have the Today Show on, and so far not one mention of this minor footnote in the history of our country.

Kerry laid his king down way too prematurely. I think this is something we all have to live with.

18. For Kerry to win the chess game
he needs to show up to play.

What greater scenario could happen if Kerry showed up and starting demanding the game is over and the gig is up. Bush is a fraud and stole the election???

I believe the word is "delusional" to believe Bush will not be in office Jan 21st. because Kerry isn't going to do that.

21. come on people...there is no chess game
really...what's up with just admitting that this ex-Skull and Bones guy is an establishment Democrat that has more in common with the right wing of the Democratic Party than the liberal one?

It's funny how we in DU try to find a positive to every Kerry move, when there really isn't one.

What occured in the Congress (the actions of Republicans) will probably be lauded by conservatives in this country. We only convinced more Democrats that fraud occured (which is a good thing). But, it wasn't a Machiavellian Kerry chess game strategy...

Now I say it...let's get over it. Don't get over that they stole the election, but get over the continued crying about it. Thousands of elections have been stolen and the people of those nations have focused their efforts on making sure it never happens again. That's what we have to do (and didn't do in 2000).

Continuing to fantasize about Kerry is not going to lead us there.

As for the Republicans...yeah, they got away with it. But they will rue the day they did, because in their arrogance and extremism, their party is digging their grave. The American peolple will one day realize the extremism of that party, and the Republican party will forever be associated with that, just like the Nazis destroyed any chance of conservative politics in Germany.

Let them overextend themselves...and as for us, weren't we musicians, artists, doctors, engineers, teachers, etc. before Bush? Let's go back to being those things...and let Bush dig his own grave.

Sorry for the defeatist tone of my post...but it would be the greater crime to convert our lives into "defeat Bush" mode and ignore everything else.

Let's help Boxer and Conyers reform elections...let's stay active...but leave Bush alone. We know he stole it...we can't prove it...he did and O.J. and went free. What are we gonna do, storm the White House?

22. I agree that it was a victory
But i dont think Kerry gets any credit.

The Republicans really do look bad 'debating' this issue...and i think it will be of good use for the future. They were the ones who looked partisan and shrill and unprepared.

I can't wait to see an edited package of the best democratic points versus the worst republican rebuttals.
