LONDON (Reuters) - A British woman has been ordered by police to take down a sign on her garden gate which read "Our dogs are fed on Jehovah's Witnesses."

Janet Grove, who owns a terrier puppy called Rabbit, insisted the sign was a gentle joke to discourage callers at her front door.

Her late husband put the sign up more than 30 years ago when members of the church called at their house on Christmas Day.

But police were forced to act after receiving a complaint.

I'd probably be creeped out by signs warning of dogs that attack liberals, too. I doubt that I'd report it to the police, though.

5. I can't say I blame them.

My Dad put up a sign by the door of his home. It read something like: "We do not welcome any religious solicitations of any kind." Still, it did not keep the JH's away. There are TONS of them in Puerto Rico. One day my Dad was up on the roof of the house putting sealer on a spot where water was leaking. Two of them walked by and looked up and said: "Good morning! Are you busy right now?" My dad said "No, can't you see I am reading a magazine?" My went to mass regularly. The JH's would wait outside and after mass they would gang up on parishioners and try to convert them. They just couldn't figure out why they upset some people. The JH's are very, very persistent. They are immune to insults, doors slamming in their faces, swearing....they just keep coming back. :grr:

uninvited and without knocking. They left in hurry because they came face to face with 100 lbs. of black hair and inch long fangs.

I need a door sign like that to keep the JWs from knocking on the door weekly (drives both me and my dog crazy).

The JWs are regular visitors to my house and I can't figure out why. I never shout at them or anything, I just say "no", decline their leaflets and shut the door. Is that why they always come back, the fact that I don't yell because they're disturbing me ('cause I can do that too)? I almost feel sorry for them because it's a high road, literally, for them to walk up to my house, but I'm never going to let them in no matter how many times they turn up.

A couple of American Mormon missionaries came to the door a couple of years ago. It was early evening and I had changed into my "at home" clothes, including a very thin t-shirt with no bra. One of the Mormon lads got sidetracked during his spiel because he was staring, completely fixated, at my free-ranging breasts. Normally I shut the door quickly on religious proselytisers, but the obvious distraction of this one poor man amused me so much that I let him carry on talking - and looking. I like to think I gave him something to mull over instead of the other way around.
