Anyone else watch that "Much turns 20"
It sure did remind me how cool Much Music USED to be. Now, it's just an MTV clone (Except for a few things like when they reported from Afgahnistan or Zambia)
But even on their 20th year special, all the clips were from the last 3 years it seemed. They're just trying to keep up their "hip" and now image by not showing the OLD stuff.
I still remember when it was cool, they even had the PM on once.
Your thoughts?

1. I know, I know -- I'm not Canadian.
But I'm gonna agree with you, so it's okay, right?

You're not the only one who's noticed this about MuchMusic.

We make at least one trip to Canada every year, sometimes more than one, and one of the things we used to enjoy was cracking a bottle of wine, first night in the hotel, and putting Much on to see what was going on. Back in 'the day,' you used to see videos by by Canadian artists, sometimes even Canadian artists who had no profile in the States. It was cool -- we like Canadian artists just fine.

In the past few years, though, the 'joint venture' with Viacom has eroded their credibility. And if you think the Canadian feed of Much is bad -- they have an American feed that's even worse. It's a bad amalgam of MTV and VH-1. You seldom see any Canadian artist that hasn't charted in the States, and all the VJs look and sound like they shipped them in from Los Angeles.

2. I don't catch MM much anymore
but I did see Much turns 20. It was great seeing the old clips. I forgot that JD Roberts (news guy) was on it. I've always preferred Much to MTV. I watch Much More Music more often now. I like the retro videos.

3. It's hard to find pics of JD from his New Music days...
Jeanne Beker is everwhere, but I was trying to find an old pic of JD to compare to his current look as John Roberts, intrepid CBS White House Reporter.

I think he's had himself scrubbed :)
