1. Beautiful shot!
Chretien's gooooood.

Gomery's probably nursing his wounds over a scotch right now. :D

3. The whole golf ball bit was good
You have to hand it to Chretien on that one.

4. It was vintage Chretien!
I loved it! It is a lesson on how to nail a biased judge, his critics and opponents with humour and truth. It was also perfect in changing the news headlines from the questions to the finale. There are very few with the skills and talent of Chretien, imo.

5. I never thought I would be pleased to hear "George Bush" and "balls" ...
... in the same sentence (and that includes the "inaugural" type) ... but that was one of the funniest things I've heard from JC (and he's got a wicked sense of humour too).

The way he just kept pulling all those golf balls out of his suitcase ... I wonder where he got the law firm one? Can't imagine him ever going golfing with Brian! (The Globe and Mail said he'd gotten the George W. Bush ball from someone else ... I guess GWB didn't see fit to "reward" him with one.)

Aside from the minor detail about Hope being in Arkansas, not Tennessee (Al Gore's state) -- perfect delivery!

6. Vintage stuff!
"So firs' I takes da knife an' makes sure dat she's nice an' sharp. Den I sticks it in good an' deep, like dis. I always aim for a vital organ, of course. So when she's in good an' deep, I gives 'er a good twist. So den if dey start to squeal like a piggy, I know it's what I want to hear. So den I twist 'er again... an' again... an' again..."

:toast: to the little guy from Shawinigan!

7. LOL!
I absolutely died laughing at his "no, no, this is too much fun!" comment when his lawyer said "Let me stop you here"! ROFLMAO (am laughing again just typing this)

8. Jean Chrétien: a former PM testifies
The week before he testified, Chrétien's lawyers argued that Gomery should be removed from the inquiry because he was biased against the former prime minister. At issue was an interview Gomery had done in January.

Gomery called Chrétien's decision to allow his name to be printed on a series of golf balls "small-town cheap."

For his last question, Chrétien's lawyer asked the former prime minister whether he had ever received any golf balls during his travels as prime minister. Chretien began pulling golf balls out of his briefcase.

The final ball was a gift from the law firm Ogilvie Renault, which employs former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, Gomery commission counsel Bernard Roy and Gomery's daughter.

9. Maybe funny and witty stuff from JC but...
it was just a tactic to take the spotlight away from his little secrets.

Sorry fellow Canadian but I, as many Quebequers, find it disgusting that so much money was used illegally to corrupt a democratic process about to happen in the province of Québec.

10. Well The Story
Going around is that he pocketed 250 million. Just ask Harper.
Do you think that they will find it to be more?

It also happens to be money from everywhere.

Please tell what is about to happen in Quebec.

11. Any idea how expensive fighting a plebisite and changing
language laws all across Canada is every few years? That 250 Million may very well have saved us all a ton more money.

Liberals are not in it for themselves. The ad firms they hired may have been. But Liberals are not money sucking scum bags like the neocons are.

12. It was not illegal, it was a legal policy
which is a different issue as to whether the taxpayers money was misspent and whether the firms receiving the money actually earned it or was it a payoff to corporate Liberal supporters.
