Mallick: Margaret Trudeau’s unashamed wisdom
“I want you to know something about my mother,” Justin Trudeau told an audience once. “She was, and is, way, way, way smarter than my father.”

Margaret Trudeau was there and says she nearly fell off her chair with laughter. But Justin’s remark was true, although probably too counter-intuitive for that Board of Trade audience.

-----------------------------

In 2000, four days after Pierre’s death, Margaret went out. She was confronted by a TV reporter, the punchably cruel Mike Duffy, now a senator, who barked at her, “How do you feel today, Mrs. Trudeau? Have you remembered it’s Michel’s birthday?” She collapsed.

She says now, “That’s the hardest I have ever been hit publicly, by anyone at any time anywhere.”
