After eleven months in detention, an Afghan journalist who worked for the Canadian network CTV is a free man.
Jawed Ahmad -- who is also known as Jojo Yazemi -- was released on Sunday, when authorities cleared him of having any links to the Taliban. Since his release, Mr. Ahmad has alleged that his U.S. captors beat him, deprived him of sleep and on one occasion, forced him to stand barefoot in the snow for hours.
Now, although the journalist may have his freedom, the anger over what happened, and how he was treated hasn't subsided -- and neither have the questions.
Mr. Ahmad says Canadians played a role in his detention. He says it was the Canadians who told the American military that he was considered a security risk. And, he learned this information just a month-and-a-half before U.S. forces took him into custody last October.
To tell us more, we reached Jawed Ahmad in Kandahar.
