UN observer's wife calls attack 'intentional'
The wife of Maj. Paeta Hess-von Kruedener, missing and presumed dead after an Israeli attack on his UN observer post, has charged the bombing was "intentional."

"The building was clearly marked, their vehicles were clearly marked, they were clearly marked as UN observers," Cynthia Hess-von Kruedener told reporters Thursday.

"So why were (the Israelis) firing on that base? ... In my opinion, those were precision-guided missiles, so the attack was intentional."

She also said that Israel had attacked the area several times before, "for weeks upon weeks," according to her husband.

1. I don't know whether it was intentional...
It seems to be a strategically pointless thing to do. But I'm no military strategist. What it is for sure is a colossally botched bombardment. Israel has to get really contrite on this, really fast. As in, 'we are so incredibly sorry for our mistake, please forgive us..."
So far there's been no sign of that. Kind of like Chimpy's half-hearted statement 'regretting' the accidental bombing of the four Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan a few years back.

3. Everything
Is often not what they seem.

Canada Won't Join Peacekeepers

There are currently three UN peacekeeping missions in the region: The UN Disengagement Observer Force that was established in 1974 in the Golan Heights, located along the Syria-Israel border, and comprises 1,033 peacekeepers, including two senior Canadian officers; the UN Truce Supervision Organization, established in 1948 is the first and longest running UN peacekeeping operation, with 154 military observers, including eight Canadians, based in Jerusalem but rotated around the region; and the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), established in 1978 and based in south Lebanon, made up of 1,990 peacekeepers monitoring Israel's withdrawal from Lebanon.

As we don't have the inside information we have to examine things from the outside. The highlighted area immediately tells me that if that UN group are still there then they would have much work to do if the country was re-occupied. If they aren't there then there is no further issue from that point.

With precision armaments and the latest technology, one has to assume that the target was intended. It is then up to the star wars people to prove that they are inept.

2. Good find...
Thank you...

It looks like at least someone in this country is defending the UN...

Yer a smart guy...is the silence deafening? Or is it just cynical me?

In your online travels...find anything good by all of these folks who usually love to tell us all about the UN. It's pretty hard to take any of these people very seriously, when at the time the UN in this country needs the support, they have taken a powder, so to speak.

Canwest is really 'catapulting the propaganda' on this one. MacKenzie Lewis's cowardly attempt to 're-kill' Major Kruedener on behalf of Israel's war crime is downright sickening...if not treasonous.

Lewis wore a uniform for Canada? What scum...his own troops...

You standing up for Canada, Steve?
Then why are you sitting down while Canadians are being killed?

4. I agree, the silence is incredible...
Like everything else harper has done since he 'assumed the throne', he has tried to hide, hush up or cover up anything he doesn't like. Disgusting.
