Warning for the U of Wisconsin's Sociology Department

I just found this bit in freeper land. I thought someone here might be able to pass this thread on to someone who might want to prepare for a new round of anti-intellectualist attacks. Given this program is pretty much tops in the country they need little help, but a little pre-prep never hurt. Our department gets vandalized by these garbage chumps periodically. The protest warriors are angry about being reprimanded as racists and seem to be plotting their revenge in this thread.

Sociology is seen to favor the working class to the wealthy and also seen to favor the rich to the working class generally. Now, it's ignorance vs knowledge. What is thier beef anyways?

2. In the tread they say are angry about

their Protest warrior posters being taken down in the department.
Of course those posters in the thread pretty much label African Americans as criminals, Arabs as terrorists, and critiques on white men unamerican so yea Sociology.

I'm a sociology grad. student at a school where a number of profs recieved Ph.D's at UW so when I saw that a red flag went up.

Its funny that this is happening at Wisconsin because its not really a very "radical" department by any means. Its pretty mainstream and tame in terms of political participation and the like.

I bring it up because on our office doors someone has been writing comments on the conference schedules some people advertise on them and our school has been entered into that Discoverthenetwork nonesense.

What is that? Been awhile since I last walked the halls of college so I have no idea what crap the freepers are throwing.

4. Its the David Horwitz website that

accepts submissions from readers to include in their list of liberals and terrorists. Somehow my uni has been added. Its a pretty scary list actually. Its the making of a blacklist and equates being intellectual with being a terrorist. If you google it you might find some people you know of or have read on that list.

5. It's all part of the neo-con's destruction of education

They want ideology taught in schools at all levels, not fact, not research, not exploration. And they've essentially given the anti-education wingnuts permission to terrorize educators and institutes of higher learning.

Somewhere we've lost the expectation of civil discourse and now the inmates are in charge of the assylum, screaming their little brains out about how they have the right to be sexist, racist fuckwits and the university is stepping on their free speech toes by ripping their insanity down from university walls.
