For anyone still on the fence about Action Day in Madison tomorrow
This might be helpful in putting it all into perspective--

Which Way Wisconsin?

1. That is a great article.
I think many DUers realize that as Wisconsin goes, so goes the nation. Wisconsin is the vanguard in this war on the middle class. They need to show the rest of the world that the greedy teabaggers and their millionaire backers cannot repeal everything gained during the twentieth century. So many of the gains were begun there. We must win there.

3. I gotta say this

Sometimes these articles read like it's all up to Wisconsin to single-handedly turn the tide against radical right extremism. That if we fail here then somehow it dooms the entire country to go down. Well yes and no. Wisconsin is unique in some ways (and this article did a good job of outlining our history) but we are also a part of a larger context, and the thing is if the so-called "Madison movement" isn't igniting in other places then our job here in Wisconsin becomes considerably more difficult.

People in Ohio and Michigan get it - and I know that there's stuff going on elsewhere too... but I think what needs to be said is that thereis a power in face to face contact and our stamina and sheer volume of volunteer hours that cannot be matched - or bought and paid for. It's the only effective antidote against Republican big $$$$$$$$$$$ there is. Marching in the streets, talking to fellow progressives AND moderate repubs on the Square who've come to see what's going on, going door to door wtih recall petitions, talking to the other recount observers (Prosser AND Kloppenburg) at the county clerks offices... all of this stuff is powerful, and empowering, and I believe far more effective than all the email petitions in the world.

Basically, I think it all comes down to how we choose to use our time....

Some things (cleaning the house, posting on these online forums, etc.) fall by the wayside.

4. I understand what you are saying.
I think the whole country is looking to you as an example. But they are also looking at you to cheer you on and support you. You are not alone!

The other states who have caught fire because of your example will not quit if you lose a few battles. The people will be sad for you, but they will continue to support you and to fight their own fights.

I think you have become a symbol, and that is not a bad thing.

5. Thank U!! Good to be reminded that it's not all on MY shoulders (which btw
is what is so therapeutic about those big rallies - seeing who we are, how diverse - every conceivable type of person. SCREAMING is good therapy too - getting the RAGE out makes it possible to then get back to work and focus on what needs to be done...)
