Interesting junk mail from the WI Repukes
It's a message reminding me to vote pro-life with an already-born baby on the front (I thought they only liked the ones that weren't born yet). Then there are two cards inside to send to the city clerk in Wauwatosa (I live in Dane County and have for about 4 years). It's addressed to my current address with my maiden name.

Now why would they send it to me here and then have the return reply to 'Tosa? Anyone know what the registration cards and absentee ballot requests are like here? They are the same throughout the state, right? So I could go check up on them at the local clerk's office?

Anyone else get this?

1. Dean sent E-Mail yesterday requesting people in WI
to contact him at DNC by E-Mail if you get any mailings from Repubs and they will contact you...they are really on this...

14. Intersting. Milwaukee DA received the complaint and says they have
no jurisdiction in this. Told me to call Dane County. I have been on hold for about 15 minutes now. We'll see where this goes.

2. Definitely send a copy to the state party
either by e-mail to the communications director (see wisdems.org) or by regular mail.

3. Mine just came and its message is different

"Democrats are pigging out" is the head line and it goes on to blame Dems for "pork spending" increases.

Funny thing is, it refers to nameless candidates. "One candidate says..." The other candidate has pledged not to..."

Gotta wonder what the most brilliant GOP brains are smoking.

4. They're saving money on the printing
Printing a million of the same thing costs less. The point is to get Democrats to send the absentee applications to the wrong place (except that this scam is getting quite a bit of publicity and they have probably spent a bundle in vain. Yay!)

6. My prolife propaganda came in yesterday's mail
any money they spend sending me crap is money they can't spend on some fence straddler although I can't imagine anyone with a brain in their head hasn't decided at this point

7. So where are you supposed to send your form (if you were to do it)?
Mine is addressed to a city in which I've not lived for years.

8. DONT USE THEIR FORM!!!
Edited on Wed Sep-24-08 09:21 PM by Lefta Dissenter
DON'T use the form sent by someone else - you can use the form that is on the GAB site.

http://elections.state.wi.us/

Direct link to the form to request an absentee ballot:
http://elections.state.wi.us/subcategory.asp?linksubcatid=1636&locid=47

Yes, the form is the same throughout the state - so you can download it and print it, but it must be sent to the clerk where you are registered to vote. THAT's where the problems come with these forms - because the trick is that many have the incorrect mailing address (as you've found). It is not mandatory that you use this particular form, but why not??? Then you're sure you provide all of the required information in the required format.

The GAB site has a list of Municipal Clerk's addresses. From the home page, click on "Clerk Information" in the left margin, and scroll 2/3 of the way down to see the link to the listing of municipal clerks. The direct link is http://elections.state.wi.us/docview.asp?docid=10506&locid=47

Check your registration status at http://vpa.wi.gov/

Make friends with your GAB website!! There's a lot of great information there.

10. No, no, I'm not. Just wondering if this poster had a faulty return address too.
I'm going to have my husband scan it at work Lefta...then I'll get you the info.

11. I moved within the same city so it's still going to the right clerk
but what's odd is this form looks entirely different than the one I got from McCain a week or 2 ago

13. Apparently,
after hearing of the success of the McCain mailing, another republican group is sending them out. :eyes:

12. Thanks, AllyCat!
And I figured you wouldn't use it, but took the opportunity to get the information and links out there (again).

Looking forward to seeing it, as is our Counsel for Change coordinator. :)

If hubby is able email it over to me, it would be great to have it in hand by tomorrow evening, when we do some more phoning for C for C. It's a perfect example of why it's crucial for attorneys (and others) to get engaged!!!

Thanks so much!

15. Okay, I give up. Dane Co can't do anything either. They told me to call my
local police office. Nice. So much for the on-line help. Husband forgot to bring this in today so I think I'll make a special trip into Madison. I'll PM you

16. Fill it up
with junk mail and post it if it has postage paid envelope so that they get charged for the postage.
