TABOR suffers defeat in Colorado!
http://www.tpmcafe.com/story/2005/11/2/181831/241

The Gov made a passing reference to this in his speech yesterday morning and I finally found a link in Talking Points Memo with Josh Marshall.

here's a couple of clips:

TABOR, a long-time conservative cookie-cutter idea that first reached fruition in Colorado, is sort of the ultimate reflection of the starve-the-beast philosophy of Grover Norquist: taxes and spending must always go down, never up, no matter what's going on in the real world.

The TABOR modification approved yesterday didn't just liberate Colorado's government from a stupid restriction on democracy; it also helped further the process of loosening the bonds of "our team" Republican solidarity forged by Grover Norquist and his buddy Karl Rove. Every now and then, the real world butts in, and the ideologues and the money-driven networkers must retreat.

Let's pray it's a trend.

We now have "another arrow in our quiver if the Repubs have the nerve to bring up TABOR again. Even better, we need to find the specific reference to the Gov's comment that Colorado has dropped from among the top 10 in Educations in the US to 47th!

Victories are hard to come by so we should probably cherish this one!

1. Hehhhehe.
Lasee spin:

"If it weren't for TABOR, there would be no refunds in the first place. Colorado is projecting refunds because they expect to bring in more tax revenue than TABOR allows them to spend.
Thus, the voters didn't "suspend" TABOR - TABOR and its limits on spending growth are still in place. Colorado's voters simply allowed their state government to spend the surpluses, rather than give them back as taxpayer refunds.
That's how TABOR is supposed to work.
Expect more of this misinformation. A lot more."

2. The anti-tax movement must be defeated at every turn.
It's eventual goal is the destruction of all social programs.

3. And oddly enough ...
It appears they think public schools and universities are just another social program ...

Climb the ladder of opportunity, then quick pull it up before the lowly rabble gets to it.
